Ricky's page
Ricky is the first Border Collie to have owned me! Prior to Ricky my family had Shetland Sheepdogs. We were introduced to Border Collies through Jess, my brother's dog. His motives for buying a border collie were not right - he loved Footrot Flats and wanted a dog like Dog. But if it hadn't been for him this would be a sheltie site. Now that I have Border Collies I can't imagine owning another breed.

He is not your typical Border Collie, not at all ball driven - unless of course it is to stop Reagan from having it. The only toy he really loves is his tug rope. We have several in the house - but Ricky only plays with HIS.

Ricky was born in April of 94. We have been active in obedience and agility training since he was old enough to attend classes. Recently we have started Flyball and for a dog that doesn't like balls - he LOVES it!

We made the foray into obedience trials for a short while, but Ricky was hindered by my nerves. We currently compete in OPen ANKC Agility. Ricky gained his Agilty Dog title (AD) in January 2001 after much hard work and 18 months of trialling. We are now in the Open class and gained our first pass towards our ADX in May 2002. I retired Ricky from agility after the first trial for 2003. He is still happy in training but but no longer seems to enjoy trialling. SInce retiring him though I have found his perfect job!

Ricky is a couch potato border collie who loves nothing more than being the centre of attention. So with this in mind I applied for Ricky and Reagan to particiapte in the Caring Canine Companions Scheme. and as I expected he has taken to it like a duck to water! In fact I think he is trying to work out why it took me 9 years to do it - all he has to do is sit and be patted (and sometimes he even gets up on beds!)

Name: RICKY AD (That's it, no fancy hard to remember name!)

D.o.B: 4/4/94

Bred by: Kennoway Kennels

Achievements: Gaining AD title, and being my companion. :) We also passed an obedience preliminary test (used to be required before trialling to ensure the dog was of a suitable standard. The same exercises as Novice Obedience with a pass mark of 150 instead 170 - we got 169)
A typical pup - into everything!
Where he is most comfortable - MY BED!! Even out on a walk he is a serious fellow!
