Well, it has been a couple of days since my last entry, but not a whole lot has happened. I started school yesterday, Tuesday... that was actually quite nice really. It's very refreshing to see a bunch of new people with the same views, or similar to mine. Garry Barker, president of AMI, seems like a very nice character, and a nice instructor. I think it will be great to become a successful as he claims he was... travelling to Asia & Europe, working in PEI and Halifax and other places, it sounds pretty wicked.
I had never rode a metro transit bus before until Monday, I guess it wasn't as big of a deal as I had previously thought. I didn't hav ea lot of fear meeting those 20-odd new students & few instructors, it was taking that stupid transit bus... but now its alright. On Monday, Alice and I took the bus route past my stop to the Mumford Terminal and switched buses to head to Dalhousie campus. Alice jumped ship too soon and we ended up walking 4 blocks or so to reach where we needed to go, but that was okay, cause on the way back, I jumped off too soon so we had to walk another 3 blocks or so to make it back home! Definately got our walking in for the day! Oh well.
As for Tuesday, school was great! So far, every aspect of radio and television seems pretty impressive. We ended up meeting the other two main instructors. Renee Stevens, a camera operator, and a very talented female camera operator apparently. She has been everywhere, working for several major playing companies, such as YTV. The other major instructor was Troy "Michaels" Swimaner. We didn't do a whol elot of anything, except talk really today. The Michaels part of Troy's name was his 'radio name'. Apparently, he worked in New Brunswick and nobody could pronounce Swim-a-ner, so everyone started calling him Troy Michaels. Also, apparently, when someone calls you the same name for so long, it legally becomes entwined in your real name or something like that. Maybe thats who wrestlers and camera crews for movies get their little names in there. Jim "The Hammer" Shapero for example. We even talked about the famous, Canadian Idol... mainly because everyone hates it & those damn commercials!! Thats the main reason why people brought it up, the advertisements point of view (pov) in the television & medias... because the commercials are what pays to keep the radio stations & television channels 'On Air'. For those of you who seen last nights episode of Canadian Idol, you can well understand.
