| The above is the Warrant issued to Brian Brenchley on 1st July 1966. he had been a CSM since 1958 and it was only in 1966 that he became substantive in the rank after obtaining the 1st Class certificate of education. |

| In 1947 Her Majesty in her role as Colonel of the Regiment was inspecting the 1st Bn at Chelsea Barracks. When she got to the Corps of Drums she stopped at Brian Brenchley and asked 'How long have you been in the Regiment? - 'Ten motths Maam came the reply' and 'What is your ambition?' and I replied 'To be in the Kings Company like my father was Maam' She replied 'You will need to grow a lot then' I at the time was all of 5' 5". In 1958 after the Inspection of her Company all the 'Seniors' were presented to Her Majesty and the Captain reminded Her Majesty of our 1947 meeting and what had been said, she looked up at me and said 'My! you have grown haven't you! I of course was 6' 3" by then. |
