What would you define as government and public services in the Philippines? The obvious answer would be things like water and electricity. The not-so-obvious answer would include residential telephone services and other services that are necessary for the majority of the public (and sometimes a minority of the public). Services do not have to be government-run or government-owned in order to be considered public services.

As a resident of Olongapo City, Philippines for more than 2 years, I've heard more noise coming out of the political left than anyone else. Just as it is with American media and the political left in the US, the Philippine media pays way too much attention to the subversive Filipinos headquartered in Manila, Philippines.

While doing an unrelated search on INQ7.net, the online version of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, I stumbled upon some opinion pieces that indicate the author believed the Philippines did not have any kind of unique culture and that the Philippines has never contributed anything of any significance to the rest of the world.
