FEBRUARY 23rd, 2008 RESULTS
The last points week before Season Championship races had forty six drivers taking too the ice oval in hopes for any extra points they could muster up. Championship races will be lined up according to points accumulated in the seven previous outings, and for two classes every point would be the difference between first and second. With a combined difference of eight points in the COMP4 and 6/8 Full Size, drivers head into the closest points battle ever at Rice Lake.

With her fourth feature win of the season on Saturday Karen Koltunski tightened the points gap in the COMP4 class, going into the Championship Race only 7 points behind leader Troy Holder. Tadd Davis is third, Curt Myers and Jeremy Winningham round out the top five.

From the drop of the COMP4 green flag Ken Hansen stayed on Koltunski's bumper, and after a late race caution the field was bunched setting up a two lap shootout for the checkers. Koltunski held the lead with Hansen runner up. Tadd Davis got past Holder on the restart with Al Koltunski joining in the mix. The trio stayed in line until they broke formation on the last corner, making a mad dash for the finish line and crossing three wide. Davis took third, Holder fourth and Al Koltunski fifth. Karen made it her first clean sweep of the season with her pair of heat wins, Davis and Hansen also won a heat.

The Front Wheel Drive was second in the running order for the day, and with points leader Scott Miller out of town there was a hungry pack of drivers trying for a feature win. After winning six out of seven weeks Miller has a comfortable 44 point lead over Jesse Tripp. This weeks feature winner and the only other driver too win in the class,, Mike Schnider, is third with Jerret Hamilton fourth and Jim Wigchers fifth.

Three lead changes and one caution later Mike Schnider found winners circle for the second time this season in the FWD class. Travis Lloyd lead early but would be denied his bid for the win as he faded and Jesse Tripp took the lead. Using the top grove of the track Tripp looked fast, meanwhile Schnider worked his way through traffic on the bottom, taking over the lead at mid race and leading the rest of the way. Tripp made a strong comeback but come up short of the win ending up second, with Steve Miller in Scott's car (no relation) third. Fred Lloyd picked his way through traffic to finish  fourth ahead of Afton, Minnesota driver Jeff Berggren. Fred Lloyd, Mark Lawrence, Jerret Hamilton and Miller each won a heat race.

After missing the first three weeks of racing, Jarred Amundson has dominated the 6/8 Full Size class with his fourth win in a row, but with his absences Amundson will not be a factor in the points. The class is host too the narrowest points margin with Andy Cimfl having a 1 point advantage on Steve Hallquist. Troy Holder is third, 30 points behind the leaders and only 8 points ahead of fourth place Don Cook with Jeff Brueggen fifth.

Curt Myers, filling in for Hallquist the second time this year, held the early lead after taking it away from Jeff Brueggen on the second lap. By mid race Amundson worked his way from the last row too take the lead away from Myers and continued to put distance on the eventual runner up driver. A last lap spin in front of the next pack of cars left the field dodging traffic, with Don Cook coming out third ahead of Jim and Andy Cimfl. Amundson paired his heat wins along with Bill Crapser.

Sheila Cook made a lap seven pass on heat winner Deb Cimfl for the Powder Puff win, with Cimfl runner up. Tiffany Tietz was third ahead of Jill Amundson and the youngest driver of the day coming in fifth, Jessica Berggren. Berggren was also first in the FWD class, with the other four drivers in the RWD class.
