The lowest car count of the season so far did not stop the fast racing action on the north end of Rice Lake Saturday as the ice racing season heads into its second half. With 4 weeks left the points battles are still heated and with the new points structure it is still anybody's for the taking. In the 6/8 Full size class points leader Jarred Amundson continues to show his dominance as he cleaned house with two heats and a feature win. Also nabbing heat wins in the full size class were the father/son combination of Jim and Andy Cimfl with one each, only to finish third and fourth respectively behind runner up Don Cook in the feature with Troy Holder rounding out the top five. In the COMP4 division the heat top three were mirror images with points leader Troy Gross winning both heats followed by Curt Myers and Trent Gross. Myers had the action packed eight car feature field covered, even with a late race caution that bunched the field up but still didn't stop the dirt track driver from coming up with the checkers. In the Front Wheel Drive class "four" was the magic number where there were four different heat winners in each of four heats, with those four drivers going on to take four of the top five feature spots. Joel Hinrichs in the first heat, Brad Doll taking the second, feature runner up Harold Fischer in the third and feature winner Steve Miller taking the final heat. Jim Randall, subbing for Tyler Viltz who is helping with pit duties in Florida for the Hensel Racing team, finished third with Doll and Hinrichs rounding out the top five. In Powder Puff Action, Cathy Roe won the heat ahead of points leader Sheila Cook only to finish runner up to Cook in the feature, with newcomer Terrie Davenport taking both third place spots.
