Dispite the bitter cold weather caused by the wind chill 48 ice racers in the mens divisions took the first green flags of the 2007 season. The 1/3 mile track started out with alot of grip but with the smoothest lake ice in years the racing surface proved to be more of a challange as the day went on, but with some track prep drivers were still able to find enough traction to provide the large spectator crowd with plenty of good racing action. The COMP4 Division had three different winners in three races, with Troy Gross and Cody Wolkowski each winning heat races and Tadd Davis taking home the feature trophy. In the 6/8 Full size Division Don Cook was the only double winner with a pair of heats while Jarred Amundson took the feature checkers first. In the FWD class brothers Steve & Scott Miller didn't wast any time making the seasons first clean sweep winning both heats and the feature with the car they share driving duties in. Saturdays racing also included the Best Appearing Car awards with Brandon Davis taking the COMP4's, Jeff Brueggen in the 6/8 Full Size and Josh Bach in the FWD class. The debut of the Powder Puff division saw Missy Hallquist taking the heat and feature wins as 9 women took the green in the newly formed class, where drivers use the mens cars to turn thier laps. This Saturday will be regular racing with the following weekend hosting the Ice Jam Challenge Under The Lights, a two day show with a large fireworks display.
