| For a second week in a row a record crowd was on hand to watch forty seven drivers doing battle around the ice oval on the north end of Rice Lake. With all classes rotating each week the first Features on the card were the Powder Puff drivers. Rookie Amy Morrison looked strong and lead every lap for a heat win but the feature belonged to Tiffany Davis. Davis took the lead on lap three and never looked back. Another rookie, Jane Demars, followed Davis with Morrison and Chelsy Thompson, a third rookie, in tow. COMP4 driver Al Koltunski bolted from his last row starting position to the front of the field on the first lap in route to a feature win ahead of last weeks winner, Tadd Davis. Karen Koltunski followed up a pair of heat wins with a third place finish, Chase Kreier and Marcus Simonson rounded out the top five. Kyle Johnson and Troy Holder ran door to door in the early going of the 6/8 Full Size feature when a lap five flat tire sent Holder pit side. On the restart Johnson continued to get heavy pressure, this time he had Scott Miller glued to his bumper, but Miller was unable to make the pass for the top spot giving the win to Johnson. The win was bitter sweet for Johnson as he was piloting the number 44 Thunderbird of Joe Rowan, a fellow racer who passed away unexpectedly Christmas Day. A close contest for third place went to Jim Randall, ahead of Rick Hallquist and Brandon Davis. Last on the board for the day was the Front Wheel Drive class and with Miller and Hallquist pulling double duties they had to jump into their waiting rides. Once strapped in the pair of veterans duked it out for the lead all fifteen laps with Miller taking the honors this time. Hallquist settled for the runner up spot, Jesse Tripp dialed in his new ride for the third spot, Karen Koltunski, also pulling a double in fourth with Mike Schnider edging a pack of cars for a fifth place finish. Up next on the calender driver in each class will display their cars for the Best Appearing Car Awards. Awards will be presented by Buzz Signs & Graphics and TJ's Trophies. Rice Lake Ice Racing is held on the north end of Rice Lake every Saturday through March 7th, race time is 12:30 pm.. Admission is free and there is a plowed parking area around the track.
