Every six weeks, we will do a project. They are to be done independently, unless otherwise directed. These projects will be fun and entertaining, as well as educational!
1st Six Weeks: Egg Drop Contest
| Design and construct a contraption from a limited list of materials that will enable you to drop an egg from the second story without breaking it. |
2nd Six Weeks: Catapult
| Design and construct a catapult powered solely by two mousetraps that will throw a standard hacky sack the greatest distance along a specified line. |
3rd Six Weeks: Bowling Lab
| We will be traveling to the bowling alley to complete a lab in which all motion will be applied. You will work with a lab group. The approximate cost is $5.00. The field trip will be for half a school day. You must be eligible to participate. An alternative project will be available. |
4th Six Weeks: Consumer Reports
| Test the claims of a marketed product to see if the claims are true or false, and present your findings to your class. |
5th Six Weeks: Newspaper Chair
| Design and construct a safe, comfortable and durable chair using only newspaper and masking tape. |
6th Six Weeks: The Science Place
| We will be traveling to The Science Place in Dallas in order to complete a lab in which several concepts from throughout the year will be applied. The approximate cost is $7.00. The field trip will be for half a school day.You must be eligible to participate. An alternative project will be available. |
NOTE: The due date for these projects will be
assigned at the beginning of each six weeks.
These projects will represent a major test
grade. All projects are subject to change
without notice until the current six weeks.
