CONSUMER REPORT

 

 

 

 

PURPOSE:

 

     To test the claims of a marketed product to see if the claims are true or false, and to present your findings to your class

 

MATERIALS:

 

     Use the materials required for you to test your products and present your findings!

 

PROCEDURE:

 

  1. Determine what your product claims.
  2. Test the claims of your product at least 4 times or at least 4 different ways.
  3. Record your observations and document your trials.
  4. Write a formal lab report.  This should be typed.
  5. Bring your lab report and presentation materials to class on 2/11/02 for presentation.
  6. Your grade will be calculated based on your documentation as well as your presentation (see project evaluation form – attached).

 

DATA:

 

     Record your observations and test results, and document your efforts on photographic film or video.

 

EVALUATION:

 

     Organize your test results into presentation form (poster, brochure, handout, etc.).  In addition, this presentation to the class should include your pictures or video of your efforts, or a demonstration.  Evaluate your product.  Did it live up to its advertised claims?  Why or why not?  What value do consumer reports like this have for society?
