Page 2 Digestive System

The Digestive System The digestive system is another way of saying the stomach. your digestive system is a series of a hollow organs that join into a twisted tube that leads from your mouth to your anus. In side this tube there is tiny little glands that help you digest your food properly. When you digest it involves the mixture of food, the way it breaks down into small pieces. When you start to digest it contains to chew and swallow and then it goes  into your small intestines. Your stomach has muscle all over that makes the inside of your stomach the walls will move. The typical movement of the esophagus, stomach, and the intestine is called peristalsis. The action of peristalsis looks like an ocean wave moving through the muscle. When the food enters the stomach which has  three mechanical tasks to do. First  the stomach must store the food and swallow the food and liquid.

The esophagus is the organ into which the swallowed the food gets pushed into the stomach. It connects the throat above with the stomach below. The food approaches  the closed ring, the surrounding  muscles must relax and allow the food to pass.

The glands that act first are in the mouth  the salivary glands. Salivary production by these glands contain an enzyme that begins to digest the starch from the food that we eat and brings it in to smaller molecules.

After the food empties the food  and it s juice into the small intestine and then the organs mix.

In conclusion I find it is a very important to know about the digestive system and how it works.
