What makes jsgenie scripts special? Sure, there are lots of script libraries on the web. JavaScript @ netSperience showcases several library scripts as demos. In every case, I had to "improve" them. Sometimes, they were too simple, and I added other features. Others were annoyingly intrusive, so I added a viewer control interface. Some scripts had errors and browser-compatibility problems that had to be corrected. Often, I had an idea for effects, or navigation, or a complete web application, and couldn't find an existing script to adapt. So I started from scratch. jsgenie scripts are my own unique creations.

Features of jsgenie scripts Extensive comments. Customizable variables are at the beginning of the script. Optional interfaces to control the effects. (TitleSweep on/off toggle button) Many scripts have demo pages with installation instructions. Some demos use the script on actual pages; save the page to copy the script.

jsgenie scripts evolved through several years of my own tinkering with JavaScript. You are welcome to use them for personal and/or non-commercial purposes. Creating this menu is as simple as creating a <ul> list - and since the menu is right on the web page,
it is indexed by search engines! (unlike many other menus I have seen that put the menu items into .js or .php files)

Modifications to the source:

• links changed from <a href="#">List Item</a> to <a href="javascript: void(0)">List Item</a>
  so that page does not reload when a list item (that is not actually a hyperlink) is clicked
• added arrow image which was precoded as an option, but no image was supplied in the source
• added repositioning of menu to top of screen onmouseover
• added dynamic resizing of comment fields based on mouse cursor position


• CSS file listmenu_o.css tweaked a bit:
  1. added scrolling for descriptions
  2. added top margin to arrow image for positioning
  3. moved styles for menu comments (this section) to stylesheet
