Metal Gear: A crisis situation has began, Outer Heaven has started and are are attempting to prove their dominance over the world. FOX-HOUND commander Big Boss sent agent Grey Fox to investigate. However, he disappeared with his last words being "Metal Gear". Big Boss then sent a new recruit, Solid Snake, to Outer Heaven. Solid Snake was able to rescue Grey Fox and discovered that Metal Gear was a walking battletank that fired nuclear missiles from anywhere. After meeting Dr. Pettrovich, the creator of Metal Gear, he learnt how to destroy Metal Gear. Meanwhile, Grey Fox had mysteriously disappeared. For most of the adventure, Snake was attacked by soldiers, as if they knew exactly what he was doing. Eventually Snake successfully destroyed Metal Gear. However, it was revealed that the man in charge of Outer Heaven was none other than Big Boss himself, who had not expected Snake to get this far. Snake and Big Boss battled and Snake was victorious. Outer Heaven was destroyed but Big Boss escaped.
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake: The world faces an energy crisis. The fossil fuels will run out very soon, until the ONIX is invented by Dr. Marv. The ONIX has the potential to solve the energy crisis, until Marv was abducted and taken to Zanaibar land. The group who kidnapped Marv stole the ONIX in order to prove their superiority over the world. FOXHOUND's new commander Roy Campbell, former FOX HOUND member, has called on Solid Snake to rescue Marv and to recover the ONIX. However it is soon discovered that Dr. Pettrovich had also been captured and forced to develop another Metal Gear. Snake was even more surprised to see Grey Fox in Metal Gear, working for Big Boss, who was behind the whole scheme. Snake successfully reached Dr. Marv, who was dead. All Petrovich could do was watch, however a codec call revealed that Dr. Pettrovich had deliberately built another Metal Gear, had killed Dr. Marv and was working for Big Boss. Pettrovich attacked Snake, but Snake prevailed. Snake then destroyed Metal Gear, before fighting with Grey Fox in a minefield. Grey Fox was killed, but Snake still had to fight Big Boss himself. Before they fought, Big Boss revealed to Snake that he was his father. Then Snake killed Big Boss, before retiring from FOX HOUND.
Metal Gear Solid: The nuclear weapons disposal facility on Shadow Moses Island, was attacked and captured by Genome Soldiers, led by members of FOX HOUND. They're calling themselves the 'Sons of Big Boss' and their leader is called Liquid Snake. They are threatening to launch a nuclear weapon if they do not recieve one billion dollars and the remains of Big Boss. Roy Campbell has recalled Solid Snake, from retirement in Alaska, to infiltrate, rescue the hostages and stop the nuclear strike. He rescues the DARPA chief, but he dies from a heart attack. However, Snake discovered that the terroists were using Metal Gear, which was being developed at that base. Snake goes to rescue President of Armstech, Ken Baker. However, Revolver Ocelot challenged Snake to a gunfight. The fight was interupted as a Cyborg Ninja cut off Ocelot's arm. Snake rescued Baker, who also 'happened' to die of a heart attack. Snake called Campbell's niece, Meryl, who had escaped inprisonment and was disguised as a terroist. She had the overide PAL keys to stop the nuclear launch. Snake headed for the nuclear warhead storage building, to meet Dr. Hal 'Otacon' Emmerich, the engineer of Metal Gear. During this time he kept receiving codec calls from a man calling himself Deepthroat, helping him. Before Snake met Otacon, he had to have a hand combat with the Ninja, who turned out to be Grey Fox, who was the experinmental genome soldier, only half living human, half robot. Meryl in the meantime, had lost codec contact with Snake after guards spotted her. Otacon did not know that Metal Gear Rex was a nuclear weapon and immediately was overcome with guilt. Deciding to undo his mistake, he immediatelty offered to help Snake destroy Metal Gear or overide the launch. Snake met up with Meryl, who was ok, to receive the detenation code overide keys. On the way to Metal Gear, Meryl was shot by FOX HOUND member Sniper Wolf. Snake went to get a PSG1 to save her, but by the time he arrived it was too late, she was captured and Snake was surrounded by guards. Snake met Liquid for the first time and overheard some conversation between him, Ocelot and Wolf. The surprise was that Liquid Snake looked exactly identical to Solid Snake, only the voice and skin tone were different. Ocelot put Snake through electric torture to test his strength, having been told that Meryl will be killed if he submits. Snake does not submit, but after a Codec call from Campbell and Dr. Naomi Hunter, it is clear that they had been hiding facts about the nuclear warhead and other issues. With the help of Otacon, Snake escaped and headed north to Metal Gear. When he reached the point where Meryl was shot, he felt guilty and realised his true feelings for her. The operation support team attempted to reassure him, which led to Master Mcdonnal Millar being very suspcious about Naomi Hunter's past. Snake travelled forward but was attacked by Liquid in a Hind D Russian Gunship. He had to travel across another walkway, but had to defeat Liquid, so he used Stinger Missles to shoot down the helicopter. Was Liquid killed? The question was why was Liquid calling Snake brother? Snake was then attacked in a snowfield by Wolf. Snake successfully defeated her using the PSG1 but this left Otacon heartbroken, as he had fallen for her.
