Grossman appeared in 35 games with 31 starts for 1,765 plays and also started the 2001 Sugar Bowl, while playing in the 2002 Orange Bowl.Started each of his last 30 regular season games...23-8 record as a starter (18-4 in SEC play).

  • Efficiency rating of 161.81 in 2000 ranked as the third best for a freshman quarterback in major college history

One of his heros is Reggie Miller, as Grossman grew up as a die-hard Pacers fan. "Reggie would always bust a three at the end of the game. He is the biggest clutch player in any sport that I could ever think of". Rex's Father was an Indiana quarterback from 1970-72 and is currently the athletic department's ophthalmologist. Everyone in Grossman's immediate family went to Indiana except sister Amy, who attended Colorado but kept the football connection going by babysitting then-coach Rick Neuheisel. Parents and two sisters have won national championships in competitions in the International Arabian Horse Association . He Lives 2.5 miles from the Indiana University campus. Bobby Knight fan and his parents are friends with the former IU coach. Family had season tickets to basketball games for 20 years four rows behind the IU bench.  Uncle Doby Grossman was a 1972 letterman in football at South Carolina (quarterback) .Played running back his first four years of football, until his mother demanded a position switch his sixth grade season.  Rex came to the state of Florida to check out colleges because of its reputation for college football. He also wanted to visit Florida State but once he got there, he realized UF was the campus for him. Though he grew up on a horse farm in Indiana, he hated riding horses .
