Lutheran Church of the Redeemer

This famous temple, located in the Murestan Quarter in the heart of the Old City not far away from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, is originally the see of the German Lutheran Mission.

In the 19th century, the British and Lutherans tried to reconcile the Anglican and Lutheran trends.  They decided to divide the territory of the Holy Land into two parts,  the Anglicans developing in the North and the Lutherans in the South.

Over the decades, some American and English pastors joined the community as well as some Swedish, Finnish and Arab ministers.  The Danish Mission is rather oriented towards Israel.

A great diversity of people came Tuesday evening as an American pastor was showing a clay jar or "earthen vessel" [Isaiah], which was the theme of the year's Christian Unity Week.
