At this point in the Unity Week, we always feel a drift towards the Eastern tradition.

Saint James's Monastery is one of the most historical places in Jerusalem and its Old City. It is a city inside the Old City where clergy and families still living more or less together.  There used to be found there a hairdresser and a shoemaker.  The Armenian Museum is famous, and the future monks are studying at the Seminary just opposite the convent.  Its library is internationally renown with the most ancient manuscripts in the Armenian tongue and more than 600,000 books and other writings.

Bishop Aris welcomed the faithful in the magnificent church where numerous oil lamps were burning.  Bishop Yuregh [who restored the whole of the Armenian part of the Holy Sepulchre and is a man of great spiritual openness] was standing next to him.  The wonderful and profound Armenian chanting tracing back to the 4th century was interrupted by prayers in various languages.
