Compline [Apodeipnon] at Golgotha
Most Eastern Churches were celebrating on this day the Theophany of the Lord and His Baptism at the Jordan River.
At 5:30 p.m., Roman Catholic members of the clergy and lay people attended the prayer of the Compline ["apodeipnon" in Greek, "maloe povechernya" in Slavonic] together with a few Protestant faithful. Some Latin nuns were standing backward on the Orthodox side, while most others were sitting around the Latin part of Golgotha.
