After Reina had been with us for a couple of days we started working on basic
obedience. Coming when called, sitting when asked etc. She is very eager to
please so she is doing very well. She likes toys, treats and praise, she will
work for any of them.
When we go for walks I give her commands as she is doing them to help
associate the action with the word.
She seems to have a natural love for walking narrow things. Here are several
pictures of her walking and investigating things.
There
are some metal pipes about 1/2 mile from the house. I started her checking these
out and getting use to the way they feel when she walks on them. This helps her
learn to walking on different types of surfaces.
One of her favorite activities while out in the woods is walking logs.
I try to catch her as she is jumping up and give the command "hup" as she jumps
up and "off" as she jumps off of the log. I even have tried to get her to turn
around while still on the log. She doesn't mind doing it especially if I have a
ball or treat for her. She will do it without either but she defiantly responds
quicker if she knows I have 1 of them.
I thought this was a great picture. She spent about 10 minutes investigating
this stump and the moss growing on it. She climb all over it and even chewed on
some of the sticks.
When I first introduced her to this plank going over the water, she wanted
nothing to do with it. I finally walked out on it to the dock (you can't quit
see it in this picture) and just waited for her to over come her fear. It only
took her about 5 minutes to realize she could walk it without getting hurt. When
she finally came over I made a big deal out of her and told her how good she
was. Now she comes and goes across it without being afraid.
Reina
coming at a dead run when I call.
