| Slicky Slime |
| Let's experience the moldable, stretchy, ooey, gooey side of science by making slime. |
Two mixing bowls Measuring cups Spoons Glue Borax Green Food Coloring Water Borax can be found with laundry detergents in most grocery stores. Step 1: Mix together 3/4 cup warm water, 1 cup glue and several drops of green food coloring in the first bowl. Step 2: In the second bowl, mix together 4 teaspoons borax and 1 1/3 cups warm water. Step 3: Pour the contents of the first bowl into the second, but do not stir. Let it sit for 1 minute, then lift the "now congealed" slime out of the bowl. Caution: The glue in the slime can make it stick to certain fabrics. You have produced a chemical reaction! The molecules have mixed together and interacted. The slime is an example of a polymer, a long chainlike molecule. |
