The
Resettlement Program is part of Jewish Family Service of Greater
Hartford (JFS),
a mental health and social service agency serving the local community
and meeting the special needs of the Jewish community. The Resettlement
Program is supported by grants from the federal and state governments
and local non-profit organizations, and by contributions from sponsors
of the refugees. Affiliated agencies include:
- THE JEWISH
FEDERATION OF GREATER HARTFORD
A planning, coordinating and funding agency for the organized
Jewish community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford is
the subcontractor for the federal grants that support the Resettlement
Program and a funding agency of the Resettlement Program.
- JEWISH FEDERATION
ASSOCIATION OF CONNECTICUT (JFAC)
The government and community relations arm of the Jewish federation
system in the state and lobbyist for legislation that is of interest
to Connecticut's Jewish community of 130,000. JFAC is the subcontractor
for the four state grants supporting refugee resettlement through
the state's six Jewish refugee resettlement programs.
- THE HEBREW
IMMIGRANT AID SOCIETY (HIAS)
The international migration agency of the organized Jewish community,
advocating for and rescuing Jewish and non-Jewish refugees. HIAS
provides guidance, training, assistance, and nation-wide administration
of the federal grants for Jewish resettlement in the U.S.A.
