For this site.
Q. Why doesn't this site have a guestbook?
A. The space could be put to better use.

Q. Who's artwork is that to the right?
A. It is mine. It's copyrighted Sovanna Roum 2001-2002. If you wish to use it, put it up on your site or print it out. PLEASE inform me at [email protected]. Thank you VERY much.

Q. What if I want to tell you that I like the site?
A. My email is [email protected]. Thank you for wanting to contact me!

Q. What if I want to tell you that you are a f#ggot and God hates you?
A. My email is [email protected]. But you're a coward, which was why you like to put nasty things in guestbooks. They offer you anonymity. Not anymore. Not on this site anyway. *smirks*

Q. Your site doesn't work!
A. See above. And put Black Lolita Site Problem. If not, I will not open it and you won't get a response. Thank you!

Q. May I use your artwork/photo/writings?
A. Depends on what you want. Please email me and somewhere in the subject header put Black Lolita and what else you want to ask for. Thanks.

Q. May we/I link you?
A. Of course! Tell us that you are linking us so we can return the favor. Please link to http://www.geocities.com/requiem_solace/. If you would like, we also have several
banners for you to choose from.

Q. May I ask you a question/make a suggestion?
A. My email is [email protected].

For the gothic lolita fashion.
Q. Where did the Gothic Lolita name come from?
A. I'm not sure. Sometimes back in the mid-1990's, it caught on with this crowd. But the word Lolita itself is from Vladimir Naborov's novel of the same name about a pre-pubescent sex kitten. I wrote a bit more on it
here.

Q. Does Gothic Lolita have anything to do with porn?
A. Absolutely NO.

Q. What is the difference between Classical/Country Lolita and Gothic Lolita.
A. Classical/Country Lolita was the original look. Gothic Lolita is actually a sub catagory of Classical Lolita. To find out more, go here.

Q. What is the difference between Western Goths and Eastern Goths?
A. Not much. Gothic Lolita is part of the Eastern Gothic subculture. It is NOT the entire Eastern Gothic Subculture. Just as BDSM is not a part of ALL of Western Gothic subculture.

Q. What is the difference between Western Lolitas and Eastern Lolitas?
A. Mainly the atitude, the hair, the fabric used, the details (or lack thereof in the Western Lolita dresses), the accessories and the makeup. For more info, I (as in Apsara) wrote a few things on this topic.

Q. Why are most Gothic Lolitas into death, bones, the cross and the Christian religion?
A. When I figure that out, I'll tell you. I'm not Christian, nor am I fascinated by death or bones. I find the latter two amusing, but not fascinating. However, you will see references to blood and cutting in both the mailing list and this site. I DO NOT endorse Cutting or Vampirism. That's people's fetishes and drawing characters with blood dripping down their arms is a fetish of mine. It's as simple as that.

As for the cross. I don't know, but my theory is that it's exotic, it's different, people don't use it often in Japan. It's the same as some people might want to convert to Buddhism in America when generations of their family are either Protestants or Catholics. It's the "unique" and "mysterious occult" aspect of being different from everyone else in a 10 mile radius. Some Gothic Lolita's convert to Christianity because of the romantic appeal of the religion. The Passion of Christ, the agony of the sinners, hell, etc. Or that's what they told me. They don't really believe in God or Jesus being the Savior or any of the myths associated with the religion.

Note: I'm Buddhist and I'm from Asia, so I don't know anything about Christianity or any of it's associated offshoots. The state religion of Japan is Buddhism. Buddhism is NOT Shinto. Shinto is the native religion before Buddhism was brought into Japan via Korea and China. For some reason Buddhism and Shinto melded and are almost identified with one another in Japan. No blood shed as in Catholicism and Protestants. Most Japanese ARE Shinto-Buddhists.

Q. What is the difference between EGA and EGL?
A. It just depends on the individual's fashion sense. Whether they want to be in a long, simple skirt, with a simple white top or a fancy little black dress with accompanying accessories. They could be one and then the other. Or they could be both. At the same time. Want more? Go here.

Q. Is Gothic Lolita exclusive to young girls?
A. No. Boys, girls, men and women wear it. Mana is a man. Yes. Mana is a MAN. As in he's got the male plumbing. He's very male and he wears skirts. There are women who have up to four children wearing this style. Entire families go out in this style. It's very versatile.

Q. MUST you glow in the dark to wear Gothic Lolita?
A. Hell no. I (Apsara) am VERY dark. I have a natural honey-caramel hue to my skin tone. I'll never be pale. I wear it and so do many others who are no where NEAR being milky white.

Q. Did Mana create the Gothic Lolita style?
A. In one word. NO.

Q. Did Mana create the catchy names of Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) and Elegant Gothic Lolita (EGL)?
A. In one word. Yes.

Q. What is Mana's store title/name?
A. Moi-Meme-Moite.

Q. Is Gothic Lolita a music style?
A. *laughing* No.

Q. Is Gothic Lolita a lifestyle?
A. Partly yes, it's more in the atitude and the way you see the world around you.

Q. What is up with those suitcase-like purses the Japanese lolitas carry around?
A. Since I am not one of those Japanese lolitas, I cannot say. It doesn't look very useful. It doesn't look like it's opened often. It MIGHT serve a purpose other than to add presence and "air" and be part of the "look". But I doubt it.

Q. Where can I get this look without having to cross an entire ocean and one continent?
A. Online, baby! You got net access, you have a way. But if you don't want to go through half the internet to find an english speaking, english shipping merchent, here are some links to help you out.

Q. How do I get the fullness in the skirt?
A. Crinolines or petticoats. I'd go with petticoats. I like petticoats. That and the cut of the skirt itself. Go to ANY square dance shop or do an online search with the key words Square dance Petticoats to get the them for extra cheap.
