The people of Monota are well known for their kindness, politeness, and their hospitality. Complete strangers commonly greet each other on the street, in shops, and in residential neighborhoods. Monotese people are hard workers, but at the same time, they know how to have a good time. People often hold dinner and lunch parties on the weekends, while during the week, many people frequent music clubs after work. Many people go fishing, swimming, go to the beach, participate in sports, go camping, and participate in the arts.
The main language of Monota is Ingliz. There is a second major language in Monota, Monotese. This language was created from various tribal dialects by Someli priests and scholars in Omukili during the Zabonela Monarchy. However, only 5% of Monotese are fluent in the language. Despite this, the new democratic government has made both Ingliz and Monotese official languages of the Federal Republic of Monota.
The main religion of Monota is Someli, which means the way of life in an old tribal language. The main clergy of Someli is located in Omukili, as they have been for about 500 years. Most Monotese consider themselves as believers in Someli, but only 15% are seriously religious. Someli is a complicated religion, but it boils down to 4 "requirements": Pray at the local temple each day, make a donation to the local temple each month (usually 5% of a person's monthly income), make a pilgrimmage to Omukili every 5 years, and treat each other with kindness and respect.

Monotese love music. In each city there are many music clubs, and they are always packed any day of the week. People always buy the latest records and tune into the radio stations for their favorite tunes. The two most popular forms of music in Monota are jazz and bomula, which means "dancing music" in Monotese. Bomula is derived from sebukike, the traditional music of Monota. Bomula jazz, which combines elements of bomula music and jazz music, is on the rise as well.
Monota food contains a lot of spices and a lot of flavor. The staple foods of Monota are rice and bread, and chicken is the meat of choice for many families. Pork, once considered unclean, is being increasingly served on the island.
Another thing that brings Monotese together is sports. Many sports are played in Monota. The top two sports in Monota are basketball and football (soccer). In the winter, many people play basketball in Monota's many gyms. They also play ice hockey in some places. Despite Monota's position relative to the equator, cold currents from the Polar Ocean allow for some skiing in the Monota range as well. In the spring, rugby is played in the country. In the summer, the people are more active, playing football and doing many water sports. Monota has two major sports associations: the Monota Basketball Association, and Monota Premier Football. The Monota Hockey League is played in the East state, where ice hockey is most popular. Scuffleball, an import from Caelia, is gaining some popularity in the cities.
Monota is an Auroran nation.
