Click on the pic if you can't see Alex... you'll see him in the larger picture. He is my younger and bigger cat. He purrs loudly and is very friendly. He isn't the brightest cat on the planet, so I call him a 'tard (mainly to upset my friend, Zo). Alex is a lot fonder of Zuzu than he is of me, and I often see him rubbing against her and "kissing" her face. I think there's something deviant going on there.
Hatched in April 2000, I got Gulliver on Columbus Day, 2000. He's a wonderful parrot, a great talker, and he makes me laugh all the time! I love him dearly! I had wanted a parrot for a LONG time, and was especially interested in African Greys because of their reputation for being good talkers. Gulliver is an incredible talker - way better than I expected! Other things: wolf whistle, Andy Griffith theme, whistling for the dog, fireworks, chicken imitaion (bok bok bok), Zuzu's yawn, and lots of other sounds that people make with their mouths and bodies, intentionally and not. New for 2002: the sound of a person drinking and swallowing; Zuzu's whine, and Zuzu's Arrrrrrrrrr! play growl; indistinct singing . New for 2003 that irritating "beep! beep! beep!" that the garbage truck makes when it's backing up.
We got her on 23 Dec 91, and I named her Zuzu after the little girl in "Its a Wonderful Life." She was a lost puppy in someone's front yard, in the rain, and not knowing what else to do, the people brought her to the pet shop where I was working.
I had no idea what kind of dog she was or how big she'd end up (60+ pounds!), but I asked my husband if he wanted her, and we kept her. Her breeding is a mystery, but my best guess is that she's Australian Shepherd and some kind of Husky mixed with a little something else. An all-American mutt. She has always been a hyper, in-your-face dog, and will not allow anyone to ignore her. She used to sleep on my bed with me, now she is old and fat and stiff, so she sleeps BESIDE the bed.
She's a beautiful, friendly, intelligent dog, and I love her a lot! She loves to swim and socialize with people and other dogs. She especially likes small people (children), and will lay down in the grass until they get close enough that she can jump up and lick their faces. They usually scream and act as though they're being eaten alive.
My little runt cat, solid charcoal grey. Her whole litter was dropped off at the pet shop where I was working a few weeks before Thanksgiving, 1993. They were only 4 weeks old, and she was the tiniest of them all, only about half the size of the others. I bottle fed her and washed her face with a washcloth, and named her after the rabid dog, Cujo, and gave her a spiked collar. She's still a tiny cat (6 pounds), but we tell her that she's a nasty bitch, in order to keep her from feeling sensitive about her small size. Her not-so-nasty nicknames are "Muffin" and "Kitten." She would have been 10 at Thanksgiving, 2003.
Koojo started having problems with her mouth in the summer of 2003. She had one tooth pulled, then another, and after a month on antibiotics and two steroid shots I thought she might be getting better... but no. Another tooth was going bad, her gums were bleeding again, and she was just looking so sick. I finally let her go (put her to sleep) on 29 Oct 2003. Poor kitty.
I had Kato from 3 July 1989 until 3 August 2002. He was my very first cat. I miss him.
