René Mogensen, composer: Music for modern dance choreography

Two current and ongoing collaborations include new projects with choreographer Renata Celichowska in New York City, including Black Ribbons; and with dancer/performer Ophra Wolf with the Pursue the Pulse Collective, on the interactive performance environment Four Seasons.

November 21-23, 2003: Two movements of Mogensen's Air and Marble for string quartet was performed to choreography by Renata Celichowska in the NYU Distinguised Faculty Fall Concerts (5 performances) at the Frederick Lowe Theater, West 4th st., New York City.

April 3, 2003, 7pm Choreographer Renata Celichowska presented new choreographic work Money and Terror with electroacoustic music by Mogensen based on the work Terror og Penge, at Judson Church, New York City.

November 22-23, 2002 New work for piano and electronics, for the dance piece entitled Heaven or Cell by choreographer Renata Celichowska premiered in the Frederick Lowe Theater in New York City, USA. (Three performances)

Four Seasons, the interactive multimedia performance environment in development with the Pursue the Pulse Arts Collective in New York City.

The group gave the premiere performances of this work on April 23-25, 2004, after a residency at the NADINE multimedia performance space in Brussels, Belgium.

October 17-18, 2003 The Unfolding of an Impossible Building, an electroacoustic interactive music piece for guitar and two dancers in collaboration with IPEM, University of Ghent, Belgium, was premiered in the IPEM 40th aniversary celebrations on October 17 and 18 (three performances) with Laura Maes on classical guitar, René on electronics, and dancers Ophra Wolf and Domenico Giustino.

Works presented by the New York University New Music and Dance Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Esther Lamneck and choreographer Douglas Dunn includes Four Rooms (2000 and 2001) and Doorways to Bourbon Street (1996).

Waves, a full-evening work by the Klixbüll Dance Company of New York City, premiered March 1996 at St. Marks Church Dance Space in New York.

Waves suite composed by René for sop., ten., bari saxes, soprano voice, trumpet, piano, bass, drums, midi instruments, 1996, for choreography by Louise Klixbüll.
Commisioned by Klixbüll Dance Co. for dance piece Waves. Premiered March, 1996, New York City, April, 1996 in Denmark, May, 1996 in Poland. Klixbüll Dance Co. video is avaialble fomr the dance company as: Repertory Vol. IV. Soundtrack is available on recording: Waves (Wassard 2990, NY, 1996).
