For my first assignment, I created a word cloud. In short, a word cloud uses text of different sizes to create an overall shape
Before I began my Typographic Celebrity Portrait, I first had to research what exact font I wanted to use. I also had to research the different font faces and the history behind the font. Here you can see where I designed a fact sheet abou the "Professor" font style.
Typography has a huge impact on how an audience percieves the message of the overall content you are trying to create. A font's face, size, color, and weight can change the theme/mood of certain content. For example, I was give content information for a magazine, but I had to create two different themes. For this magazine, the theme is a fun childish theme. I chose a script childish font and paired it with a sans-seriff font. I also added a rainbow effect to my font styles to further add to the childish theme.
In this magazine cover, the theme focuses more on the historical side of "Music Talks with Children." I used a script font style and paired the font with a sans-serif font. I used inspiration from a history book to create this page and to add to the historical theme/mood.
For my final project, I chose to create a typographical portrait of Anne Frank. Although her story is tragic, she is an inspiration to me to live life to the fullest and to always spread kindness wherever I go. I chose the font "Professor" because I believe this font closely represents her handwriting. I first used Photoshop to edit her picture. I also used Illustrator to create her facial features and hair by using the pen tool. I chose quotes from her diary as well as words that describe her and the war.
