Sleep

  • Snoring - the best prevention is to sleep on one's side. Turn a snoring sleeper on his or her side to help clear air passages. For more habitual snoring, use something that clears up the nasal passages like vapor rub or just steam. Small "anti-snoring" plastic pieces may open up nostrils to allow passage of air as well.
  • The herb valerian is a safe, mild sleeping aid to take at bedtime.
  • Before sleeping, to sleep: Milk with honey
  • To get to sleep at night, drink lots of water during the day and exercise regularly (well before bedtime!)
  • At night to sleep: herb tea 15 min before bed, dress comfortably, get a good temperature setting, go to bed and get up at the same times, get at least 7 hrs of sleep
  • To help sleep: place fragrant plants in room.
  • Place lavender oil on cotton ball and tuck inside pillow.
  • Chamomile for insomnia (tea)
  • Lemon balm for insomnia (tea)
  • Herb valerian helps improve sleep. See doctor for dosage and conditions.
  • Eat before sunset or at least 3 hours before sleeping to help you sleep.
  • Adults only (21 and over): Pour half of a Bartles & James citrus wine cooler into a coffee cup. Fill the remainder of the cup with water, and heat until warm to help sleep
  • To sleep, try a variation on the counting sheep: count backwards from around a thousand - you'll sleep before you reach the number 1
