Foods

Here are some ideas about what foods may be good to eat and what are not-so-good. In general, it is essential to get a variety of foods, especially fruits and vegetables, so that you can collect all the vitamins and nutrients you need to keep your cells functioning properly. Of course, no food is good for you in excess, so moderation is an important aspect of eating.

  • Foods that make you feel good and are actually good for you (in limited quantities): eat almonds, pistachios, raisins, calcund (rock sugar). Studies show that eating a variety of nuts may actually HELP prevent heart disease.
  • Vitamin Nutrition (especially women): take calcium (pantothenate, not carbonate, if you are taking it along with iron, make sure you get at least 1100mg, 1500 if you are a teenage girl), multivitamin, and 1g vitamin C (studies have shown it prevents allergies and may protect against other disease such as cancer) daily. If you are vegetarian, make sure you get your B vitamins, which help protect against a variety of conditions like cancer, arthritis, sores, and more. You can take a little extra of vitamins B and C because your body will remove them.
  • Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and make sure you get at least 8 glasses of water daily.
  • Always eat and sleep at regular times, and take rest (remember to sleep 7-8 hours a day), and drink plenty of water.
  • Have lots of raw fruits and vegetables, avoid milk and milk products, meat, eggs and fish, which may be high in cholesterol and fats and often contain more protein than you need. If you must have them, limit them to one meal a day or in small quantities.
  • 3 day Fasting: 2 days before, eat only fruits, cooked vegetables, some rice, nutritious meal. 1 day before, only fruit juices, 1-3 days, only water and coconut milk or lemon juice with honey, then one day of juices, one day of the nutritious meal, then normal food. Fasting cleans out your stomach and can starve infections and other diseases.
  • Munching - Eat a bit more during the day so that you can work it off. Eating a heavy meal before going to bed can disturb sleep & give a person bad dreams. However, it's also not a good idea to eat nothing in the evening as you'll wake up super-hungry & possibly with a headache. So, a light snack such as lots of fruits and a glass of milk is a great idea for dinner.
