Natural Accessories
When Adam met Eve in the Garden of Eden, he didn't bring her diamonds for their anniversary (which happened to be her birthday as well - what pressure!). He brought her a garland of roses (thorn-free, of course), and flowers for her hair.
Whatever happened to taking things from nature as accessories? It conjures images of exotic locales and lazy days on the beach. Let's bring them back.
Flowers in your hair are so beautiful. Skip the silk flowers and pick a few from the garden. Fragrant jasmines are lovely and will certainly draw a smile and a sniff. Thread them onto some string with a needle or tuck a few into a bobby pin. Mix different colors of flowers, too.
Seed and shell necklaces are another pretty way to go. Collect shells from the beach, acorns in the woods, or just a bunch of seeds. Thread with a needle onto some sturdy twine and tie around your neck!
Garlands of flowers are also easy, but why not add leaves? A necklace made of raffia and a single vibrant maple leaf could be just as pretty.
Flower earrings are a cute accessory. Stick the stem of a flower into your earring-hole or thread onto an earring-hook or piece of thread you can put into your ear. Dangly flowers like fuschia are almost intended for this purpose!
Bangles and bracelets are easy if you make them out of blades of grass tied or braided together, cut cross sections of hollowed branches, tied plant stems, threaded leaves, or anything else you can think of.
You can decorate yourself with the prettiest things right from your backyard, or the woods not far away. Leftover bouquets, yard trimmings, and garden plants make good sources too. The best part: when you're done, you can toss them on the ground without guilt.
