How to wear a tshirt #14 Last issue brought you simple embellishments for your clothes. One of them was painting! Try this out on one of your old tees. Beret optional.
Materials:
tshirt
fabric paints
medium or large brush
iron
pencil or ballpoint pen
design to use (optional)
tissue paper or carbon paper
1. To paint a tshirt, the most dramatic thing you can do is cover it with designs. Start by choosing a design or drawing you own. You might do a repeating overlapping flower, leaves, anchors or flowers of different sizes.
2. Trace your pattern onto tissue paper and use the pen to poke through and write it onto the shirt or use carbon paper to transfer the design.
3. Paint your fabric with a sheet of cardboard underneath (so that it doesn't seep through to the back). Use fabric paints to coat cloth thinly. Wipe up any clumps or spread them out. Make broad, quick strokes for a carefree pattern and for steady lines. Fill in partially if you must, but keep the shapes even. Don't worry about staying within lines.
4. Allow the shirt to dry. When it's fully dry, set with a low iron pressed against the back (front against cardboard). Wash by hand when you wash.
