| CIVEL is an advocate of parent's rights. We do not believe that courts, judges, mediators, or extended family members should be allowed to tell us what is best for our children. While laws have been enacted to protect and provide for our children, these laws do not cover every aspect of family life as it exists today. Judges often do not have the time to truly consider the profound effects their decisions have on the lives of our children. At CIVEL, our goal is to gather and share information to effectively work with lobbyists and lawmakers, helping them understand the seriousness of the problems with the current visitation system. Through our sharing, we will change the outdated and ineffective laws that punish us for not allowing visitation to a parent who has no genuine interest in their child. While CIVEL supports parent's rights, we do NOT condone deliberate or vindicitve parental alienation, which can be just as harmful to a child as a "part-time parent". In an ideal world, all children would have intact families and loving, caring extended families. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world and must protect our children from harm, no matter who or what is the source of it. |
