| Computer |
This
is the place where I do all my computer stuff at home.
Computer
spec:
- ASUS P5Q Pro
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ stock
- Sapphire ATI HD4850 512MB
- 2x2GB DDR-2 800 RAM
- 320GB Hitachi HDD (OS)
- 500GB Seagate HDD (file storage)
- 22" Samsung 226BW LCD
- TDK Tremor S80 speakers
- Stax SR-007A headphones
- E-MU 1212m sound card
- Stax SRM-727A driver unit
- Logitech G5 laser mouse
- Monarchy Audio NM24 tube DAC
A mid range rig that can play most latest games
in highest settings at 1680x1050 with decent
FPS. Though I don't play much PC games anyway.
The headphone itself (the one hanging up in the photo) costs
2x more than the whole
computer lol

Matsunichi MF168

Got
this as a gift from my aunt. 128MB of memory isn't really
enough for me any more so I only use this to record Sunday
messages at church now. The stock earbuds were garbage too.
Very low quality. Even my S700i MP3 sound quality is better
with the SE earbuds. But when I use it with the UM2 or HD650
through an amp, the quality is actually ok.
Sony
MZ-E70
An
MD player which I got in year 2000. The rechargeable battery
stops working so I need to use AA's. There are some old songs
which I only have on MD's so I still need this player from
time to time, although it's out of date.

E-MU
1212m

The EMU is used to be my source but now it's just a transport.
The 1212m is arguable the best soundcard for analog stereo
playback in terms of price/performance ratio. It's a card
made for the pros, with high quality DAC and ADC. Sadly you
can't find these in New Zealand.
The
next upgrade from this EMU would be a RME or Lynx, which cost
double or more the price. Not really worth it IMHO.

Stax
SR-007A (the updated version of Omega 2)
The most expensive headphones currently in production. They
are electrostat and require their
own special driver unit. Can't be plugged straight
into an MP3 player or any other standard
3.5mm, 6.3mm plugs. |
