Dictionaries:

On this page I will provide some dictionaries for people who are interested in learning old Germanic languages.
Do you know of any dictionaries or links to it? please mail them to me.

Internal links:
The following dictionaries are hosted on this site:

  • Gothic dictionary (Gothic - English)
I have searched the internet for ages to get this Gothic dictionary, I don't know who created it though.

  • Crimean Gothic dictionary (Crimean Gothic - English / English - Crimean Gothic)
I have created this dictionary in August 2003 by translating the Crimean Gothic to Latin wordlist of Busbecq, I have also created an English to Crimean Gothic wordlist and added Busbecq's Crimean Gothic numerals and first lines of a Crimean Gothic song.

  • Runic wordlist: an interesting list of early runic inscriptions and their translations can be found in the back of the book "Runes Around the North Sea and On the Continent AD 150-700" by Jantina Helena Looijenga (ISBN:90-6781-014-2), this list gives a good image of the oldest known written Germanic languages.
The book itself is also worth reading because it contains loads of interesting information about runic writings.
More information about this book can be found here, to read the book online, click here. (needs acrobat reader)
