| The basic facial steam *Start by washing your face with your regular cleaner, or with on of the scrubs. *Choose a steam recipe and assemle as directed. Pour in into a medium-sized bowl. The steam should be warm enough that you can feel the heat rise off of it. Anything over 145 F is too hot and could burn you. *Pull your hair back off your face and lean over the bowl. Drape a towel over your head and the bowl to catch the steam (like a tent). Relax and enjoy your steam for about 10 minutes. *After the steam, splash your face with cool water, then pat it dry. Follow with one of the toners. |
| Minty steam This is a refreshing, energizing steam. It's an especially good choice if you're feeling under the weather and could use a boost. 4 cups warm tap water 4 mint tea bags (use herbal tea only) or a handful of fresh mint, slightly crushed Bring two cups of water to a boil, then remove from heat. Add the mint and let it steep for a minute before adding the remaining two cups of warm tap water. Follow the basic steam directions. |
| Clarifying citrus steam This clarifying steam will leave your skin feeling fresh and thoroughly clean. 4 cups tap water 1 lemon, cut into 1/4-inch slices 2 drops tangerine essential oil Bring two cups of water to a boil, then remove from heat. Add the lemon slices toteh water, being careful not to splash, and let it steep for a minute before adding the essential oil and the remaining two cups of warm tap water. Follow the basic steam directions. |
