| July 27, 2003 53rd Reed Reunion 20 present Hazel Gelhaus Radcliffe, IA John Gelhaus Iowa City, IA Laureen Spitler Webster City, IA Ron & Pat Frette Boone, IA Merle & Eloise Bauer Cucamonga, CA Grace Frette Story City, IA Leslie & Renee Reed Gait, MO Ralph & Arlene Reed Steamboat Rock, IA Ray & Janie Klemme Hubbard, IA Kelsey Engelking Hubbard, IA Dennis Frette Ames, IA Luci Reed Zearing, IA Kathryn & Darrell Cobeen Clear Lake, IA Robert Wickham Lawson, MO John Gelhaus led a program just before the meal: some of the 1953 reunion minutes were read; people from 3 states were recognized. A short contest was done with older & younger people on different teams ("Generation 2" [the 2nd generation after Russell & Charlotte Reed] vs. Generation 3 & after;) the younger generations got the questions 1st; if they couldn't answer it, the older generation got the question; the younger generation did quite well, & the older generation always knew answers that the younger generation didn't know; to try the questions online, click here (not functional yet.) People who traveled farthest: Eloise & Merle; shortest distance: Hazel (3 miles.) The oldest person there was Laureen (89,) & the youngest was her great granddaughter Kelsey (14.) After Hazel led grace, she had people line up 1st who had to leave the runion 1st. When people arrived, the doors were locked, so Janie & Ray went to the cafe; the manager didn't happen to be there, but the phone was used to call him. |
