The Democrats and Republicans don't want you to vote, and they try to seel propaganda about wasting your vote. Remember the only vote that is wasted, is the one that isn't cast. Don't let everyone else make your decision for you. It's your Constitutional right, it's your obligation as an American Citizen. Lets elect a truly representative government, not just a government of the Rich for the Rich and by the Rich. Campaign finance reform is necessary to ensure that the best people for the job can run for office, not just the wealthiest. Why is it, that we live in a representative Democracy, that even though women make up more than 50% of the U.S. population they hold less than 1/10th of congressional seats? Why is it that 95% of congresspersons are among the upper 10% wealthiest Americans? When did being wealthy become a prerequisite for holding public office?
When did the ACLU become the favorite whipping boy of politicians? This organization exists for the sole purpose of protecting and ensuring that the Bill of Rights legitimacy. These first 10 amendments to the constitution defines what rights we have as citizens, and what rights the government cannot take away from us. It's all about control. The government wants more. The first amendment guarantees the right to free speech, and the separation of church and state. In other words, posting the 10 commandments in public schools is purely Unconstitutional. Are you listening Illinois? Are you listening Pat Buchanan? Have you- the people who support this blatant violation of our government, have you ever even read the first amendment???

Every Day, peoples freedoms are crushed by an overbearing, controlling government. They control what you see on tv, hear on the radio, and read in the newspapers. If they could, they would control what you think. Don't let them take away your freedoms. They try to disguise their abuse of your rights by saying that they have to protect your children. Protect yourself and your children from this. Use the tool at your fingertips. Take a stand against internet censorship, cause it's a lot harder to get it back once it's gone, than to protect it while it's still here. Use the internet responsibly, and wisely. Do not let them destroy the final frontier of freedom of speech!!!!!

NEW I Just got an e-mail from a short sighted individual, at least I believe so. This person, who will remain nameless, challenged my statements and that of the ALA, listed below. He mentioned that although people are constantly fighting and complaining that the new Harry Potter books, which by the way are all on the new top 10 banned books list, that everyone has ignored the most banned book in schools today, one that never makes the list. This book he referred to is the Holy Bible. Now normally I would dismiss this claim as more right wing religious propaganda from some born again Christian fanatic. But I actually thought about it for a minute, and then I did realize he had a point. So rather than disregard his point of view, I will express my reasoning for why his argument is invalid.
1. The bible is not banned at any school, least of all most private schools. The subject of Christianity as a religious faith is what is banned. Teaching of Christianity as expressed in the Holy Bible as FACT, is also banned.
2.Myself as well as most High School students who took Mythology did in fact study the bible, within the context of the course. Maybe that isn't the case in all high schools, but that is my personal experience.
3. There were copies of the Holy Bible in our library in high school, as well as the Qur'an, and various other holy books. These books were not "Burned" either physically or metaphorically by school administrations.
4. On a personal note, I prefer not to have the Bible in school, because if my memory serves, I don't remember Huck Finn causing the inquisition of Jews in Spain, or Harry Potter being the influence on several invasions of the middle east during the Crusades. These books may be controversial, have bad language, and deal with sensitive topics, but I've never heard of anyone killing someone in the name of one of these books.
So thats my argument, agree, disagree, I'd like to know, just pop me an e-mail if you wish.
