Deserted
You have been there for me in ways no one else has,
easing my mind when others sought to destroy my inner
peace, kissing them away with lips gentle and sweet,
absorbing my tears with compassion and concern
until you felt my pain as you would your own.
When I felt lost inside and out, you filled the
sky with stars to light a way home.

You guided me across a blazing desert,
winds blowing fierce in every direction,
to an oasis, serene and scenic.
But when I grew lonely and tried to find you again,
scorching sands turned to snow and your footprints
disappeared under a fresh blanket of nothingness.

I don't believe your withdrawal is intentional
and so here I stand continually broken in the arms
that so often held me together.
You know me better than anyone yet don't recognize
the cracks forged in my heart by your absence of emotion.
Who will comfort me while you sit oblivious to
the chaos created in the wake of your silence?
Who can I confide in when you are the source of my tears?
