In the beginning, there was Nafarra.
Alaryn, the High One, was founder of the village. He was a 'first-comer' - there when the castleship crashed to the ground. Alaryn was one of a group of four who escaped the slaughtering humans at the crash site. Together, they travelled in the rain and cold, through forests and across the flat plains until they were stopped short by a tremendous body of water. They managed to cross this ' vast-deep' water and found the perfect place to call home. Alaryn named the area Nafarra, which stood for 'peaceful refuge'.
Nestled in a large valley; surrounded by mountains and trees and only a day's walk from the vast-deep water, Nafarra was truly a peaceful retreat. Plantlife and wildlife alike were very plentiful in the area. The inhabitants lived in peaceful harmony with their surroundings for many eights of turns.
The Village of Nafarra was home to pure-blooded elves as well as their animal-blooded cousins. Wanderers were never turned away but always welcomed with open arms. Alaryn supported the acceptance of all elves, regardless of their bloodline, and he strongly believed that no elf should kill another.
After living most of their lives in seclusion and tranquility, the villagers were not prepared to fight the humans who had decided that the 'forest-demons' had the best location in the area. Most of the elves managed to survive random attacks, but after the humans pulled off a surprise attack, those who weren't killed or taken captive, fled the area, never to return. This is referred to by the survivors as the Nafarra massacre.
And after the fall of Nafarra.....
Mountain Tree Holt was settled by a small band of Nafarra natives along with a handful of wanderers they met along the way, and is considered by them to be the new Nafarra. It is similar in flora and fauna, temperature, and is also in a secluded valley. The holt area is surrounded by large trees and rolling hills.
Just above the holt and beyond the hills is Stillwater
Lake. It flows into three lakes that run on either side and in the middle
of the large encampment that is Mountain Tree. Where the three rivers meet,
the water turns into rapids as it passes through the Craggy Mountains. There
are plenty of sandy beaches, mountains, an island, caves, and even swampland
to explore.
