| This poem is a wonderfully descriptive piece about a mermaid by Ashley L. I can almost see the mermaid she describes as I read. I read this on FictionPress recently and when I came up with the idea for this section, I immediately thought it would be a wonderful contribution. My thanks to Ashley L. for letting me use this great poem on my site! ~Webmistress Redmage |
| The Mermaid Her tail is teal with scales the size of a thumb nail covering every centimeter in a layer of velvet. She glides through the waters of the world. Her hair is violet with ribbons of silver, midnight blue, and starlight yellow, echoing the sky after sunset. Each strand floats in the water like strands of silk. Sapphire eyes stare out of her head. Her upper body mimics a humans. Her hour-glass waist accentuates her tail and chest. Her hair, reaching to her tail, curls and flows with the currents. The only clothing she wears is a set of 2 sea shells which cover her womanly gifts. Unused shells, pearls, and old fishing line make chains that adorn her neck and lie in her hair. Her voice is a quartet of wistful flutes, using words unknown to mankind. Her skin and lips taste of salt, the seas flavoring on her entire body. She has the scent of vanilla-strawberry. Air bubbles appear as she swishes her tail back and forth, disturbing the waters tranquility. Her pale skin illuminates her body in the darkness of the depths. Copyright 2003 Silver Ash (FictionPress ID:369971). All rights reserved.
