Grant
Grant wrote this parody, based on the opening narration of Fellowship of the Ring, last year for his away message.  I found a copy of it the other day in my coat pocket and I almost fell out of my chair (in the middle of biology lecture) laughing.  It is extremely good!  Hee hee...imagine Grant doing a dramatic reading of this!  Quite amusing.  ^_^  I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.  My thanks to Grant for allowing me to put this on my site.  ~Webmistress Redmage
Brinkmeyer, Grant.  "Physics Midterm Away Message."  Ames: 2003.
It began with the acing of the great tests.  Three in middle school, easy, quick, and non-threatening.  Seven, in high school, Cell Biology and Trig in Urbandale, Iowa.  And Nine, nine tests were given in college, where above all else, As are desired.  For within these tests was bound the strength and will to thrive in all academics  But they were all of them deceived, for another test was made

In the land of Iowa State, in the fires of Physics Hall, the Dark Lord Dan Bahr forged, in secret, a master test to fail all others.  And into this test he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.  One test to rule them all.  One by one the free students of ISU fell to the power of the test, but there were some who resisted.  A last alliance of Computer and Electrical engineers fought against the evils of Physics 221.  And on the slopes of Mt. Newton, they fought for the freedom of Iowa State

Victory was near, but the power of the test could not be undone  It was in this moment when all hope had faded that Grantiadore, vanquisher of evils, took up his BiC #2 pencil!  Dan Bahr, the enemy of the free students of ISU, was defeated.
