| December 2: TWINS! we still can't believe it, but are loving the idea of two beautiful daughters! Today we are 19 weeks and 4 days... almost a full five months! It's so incredible how the time flies! We have our nursery theme picked out... it is the Velour Animals theme from Potter Barn Kids, (click to see) and we have chosen to go with white cribs and yellow and yellow gingham accents. It is sooooooo cute. We didn't want to go totally girlie! Now the big thing is getting me completely moved to Louisville. Ben is already there :( I had a really hard time dealing with the fact that I am here and he is there, but I am surviving! and I have the cat! (Now I have to have someone come over and clean the litter for me!) We had our level two sonogram, and I am scheduled for another on December 5th! The girls both measure exactly the same, and right where they should. The technician said they have perfectly shaped heads, and that they are gorgeous. I think they look like bits and pieces and a bit alien like... but oh well! Every day is a step closer to us seeing our gorgeous children, and we can't wait! We are completely in love with them already! Ben calls them MO and MO since they are monoamniotic! He's crazy! I am sure the girls will be too! We are just praying every day for healthy babies, and every little kick or movement I feel reassures me that they are strong and are thriving. Ben thinks they will be soccer players! I say they can be whatever they want to be! One step at a time! Thank you for all your continued prayers and support! | ||||||||||||
| November 24: Well we had our ultrasound Friday, and got the shock of our life! We are expecting not one but TWO bambinos! ON TOP OF THAT they are identical! You can imagine the expressions on both of our faces... I think I had to scrape Ben's chin off the floor, and I couldn't stop laughing after the initial shock! Ben's first comment was..."Well I shouldn't be surprised since I have never known Elizabeth to do anything without going all out!" It also turns out that our babies are very very special. They are what as known as monoamniotic... meaning that they share an amniotic sack. This occurs in about 1 out of every 25,000 twin pregnancies, and since twin pregnancies account for only 4% of all births... the odds are incredible. We have two little miracle babies! There is a higher risk with monoamniotic twins due to cord entanglement and possible cord compression. As a result I will have to be seen by the doctor at least once every two weeks, with an ultrasound each time, and probably much more. I am not sure quite what to expect. As you can imagine we are happy, scared, and overwhelmed all at once. On top of moving and dealing with Insurance companies, we have a lot on our plates. We would welcome any and all prayers for us and for our bambinos. We have a very detailed two hour ultrasound tomorrow to look at how entangled their cords are already. Who knew that one day we would have either a pair of little Bens or a pair of little Elizabeths running around! We would have been the last to expect it... but we welcome them with open arms! |

| November 12: Well well well! 4 months down 5 to go! time is flying! Things are good here! I am feeling much better! No more morning sickness. Hurray! Also I have gone to the chiropracter for my headaches, and I am starting to feel better! Today was a day without a headache! That is the first day I haven't had a headache in 2 and a half months. I love getting adjusted! Ben jumped yesterday when he watched the chiropracter do his thing. He had no idea that they jerk your neck and it startled Ben! I have been feeling the baby move for the last few weeks! What a crazy thing! I just wish Ben could feel it! All in good time I guess! We have been getting ready for our big move to Louisville... for those of you who don't know... Ben is the new night talent at 99.7 WDJX in Louisville as of November 24th! YAY BEN! and yay us for getting out of Terrible Haute! Our baby will not be born a Hautian! HURRAY! We have been packing (well Ben has been doing a lot of that) and we are going to look at apartments tomorrow. I will be able to utilize a midwife which is really wonderful. Well we have a sonogram in one week, and I shall hopefully be able to post some images! Fingers are crossed! | ||||||||||||
| October 23: Back again! Can't believe it has been a month since I updated the site. The time is flying by! Well we are 14 weeks and 6 days and into our second trimester. I am really hoping for a reprieve from the morning sickness and headaches I have been plagued with. We had a Dr.'s appointment today, and I have gained a total of 2.5 lbs. He said that I am very healthy, and reassured us that the negative things should be starting to pass soon! We heard the heartbeat again! It is 162 beats per minute! Thats just perfect the nurse said. It is always reassuring to hear the heartbeat. In less than a month I should be able to feel this little one moving. I can't wait. We are also scheduled for an ultrasound on November 21st. They have a 3D/4D machine, supposedly some really high tech thing that enables you to actually see features on your baby! We can't wait! We don't want to know the sex of the baby, so hopefully it will keep it's legs crossed! | ||||||||||||
| Sept. 23rd: Hello to all!!! Well we had a second Dr.'s appointment today and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat! It was absolutely incredible. I am starting to feel a little better and more "normal" every day, and for that I am thankful. I am still gagging at a lot of smells that never bothered me before, but I don't feel so sick. YAY! I have gained a total of one pound, but my belly is sticking out more, due mostly to bloating and distended bowels! :) FUN! We are 9 weeks and 4 days, and counting! | ||||||||||||
