10 Years of C25 BEX.
Y2K
The millenium bug struck this year in the shape of a freshly restored XR2 painted in a pearlescent blue.It stole the show at Ford Fair, winning both my class & modifed car of the day.I did manage to regain top class honours at the XR national day though. On May 10th it had covered 78311 miles.
2001
2001 was the first year that C25 BEX didn't appear at the XR national day since 1993.Other commitments & delays in setting the date by the club led to this.It did however make the trip to Ford Fair 2001,at Rockingham speedway.I managed to drive home with another class win tankard for my efforts.
2002
Since its rebuild in 1996 the car has been used during the summer months only, and only then if it isn't wet (unless  it's a show day when you turn out regardless).During the winter it stays in the garage, safe from the wonderful salt laden roads the highway authorities provide us.The above shots were pure photo shots. If the car was to be used over winter these days the hard work needed to get it into this condition would be ruined in a matter of weeks.
At "Henry Ford Day" held at the Gaydon motor heritage museum in May.
In April 2002 Ford launched the new Mk6 Fiesta & the Fiesta Club GB was approached by a Cambridgeshire dealer to provide earlier marks  at their launch event. My car & the clubs restored red 1976 mk1 were used. This photo was a pure fluke. The mk6 was parked for a few minutes in between the XR2 & the mk1 by a mechanic totally unaware that he'd just created an excellent snapshot contrast of old & new.
