This section is dedicated entirely to mapping for Protosphere. Since mapping for Protosphere is essentially mapping for Quake2, you will need these two tools:                                                   Qoole v2.50 and                                    Qped.

{I took the liberty of finding download
sites for you, enjoy)

Download Qoole level editor!
Download Qped PAK editor!
New comers here. If you haven't mapped at all, please go here first.
For seasoned Quake2 mappers ONLY. Personell must be experienced with Qoole and Qped, as well as pak manipulation and texture manipulation.
here, we will cover entities, such as player starts, lights, and doors.
   -=GETTING SET UP=-

First of all, you will need to get a copy of Qoole v2.50, Qped, and Quake2 to map for PtS.

Once you have these, load up Qoole and choose Quake2/baseq2 as the base directory when Qoole asks you to.  Congratulations Qoole is now set up to map, problem is its set up to map fro Quake2, so its using the  QUake2 textures.

To move on, close Qoole and load up Qped. Once in, go to

EDIT

then

NEW DIRECTORY

An untitled folder shows up, rename this by clicking on

EDIT

RENAME

Name this folder to
TEXTURES

Now go to

OBJECT

IMPORT FROM DIRECTORY....

A browse windows comes up, and select

Pts/base/textures

(your pts folder name may differ depending on you)

Now we wait...

and wait..

So, after all the PtS textures are uploaded into this PAK file we are creating,
save the file

FILE

SAVE

Make sure you are at the Quake2/baseq2 directory, and save this pak file as

PTS.PAK

After it saves, exit and load Qoole back up.
From here, we hit ALT + W (the textures manager), and click on REMOVE ALL. Now all those kinky Quake2  textures are gone.....so what about our PtS textures?
After its done removing the old textures, stay in the textures manager and click

ADD PAK

Now, choose

Quake2/baseq2/pts.pak

Make sure you highlight pts.pak and then hit OK.

Now all those beautiful PtS textures are added to your map editor.

One more thing, since Protosphere is based off Quake2 Capture the Flag mod as well as regualar Quake2, the  CTF entities also apply to PtS.
So, you have to exit the texture manager and click on

OPTIONS

ENTITY SET

here, you can choose entity sets for various Q2 mods, choose

QUAKE II CTF

Once clicked, the window disappears and now you are ready to rock.

So now what?

Well, if you are seasoned in the mapping of games such as Quake2, Half-Life, Unreal, etc, sign up as a  pro.
However, if you are new to the mapping scene, then sign up as new.
