Preview Of The Blood Atonement

After the fall of Lucifer and one third of the angels in heaven, God decided he wanted to make a being in his own likeness: man. But man was created with a special substance that angels and spirits do not have: blood. Man was made with a body, soul and spirit, and the soul and spirit are eternal just as the angels are. But the human body is unique to human.

The first man Adam and the first woman Eve succumbed to the temptation of Satan, the serpent, so the plan of God from the foundation of the world was set in motion. The first blood atonement for sin was instituted when God killed the two animals from which the skins for covering Adam and Eve were taken. This skins covered the nakedness and shame Adam and Eve suddenly felt when they had sinned: they knew something was different.

There is no remission of sins without the shedding of blood, and the life of the flesh is in our blood:

Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Blood, therefore, became the central issue with God. This is because spirit beings never have and never will have blood, but we have human flesh and bones, a human body, because of our blood. No wonder Satanism is so focused on blood and blood rituals: Satan greatly desires to have a body and to have blood, the substance with which he was defeated.

We don't understand why, but blood is so powerful that it is the source of life, and it is able to provide remission of sins. Blood even has a voice that cries out to God:

Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

We see, therefore, that the theme of blood sacrifice, and blood being the atonement for sin, did not originate with the tabernacle of Moses and the Levitical priesthood, but in the garden of Eden. Several occurrences of blood sacrifice before the priesthood are recorded in Genesis:

Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

Gen 8:20 And Noah built an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Gen 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

Exo 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The Sons of God

God wanted to have a family with which to have fellowship. Several different entities have been called the son of God throughout scripture:

1. Angels:

Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God [Bnai' Elohim] came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

2. Adam:

Luk 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

3. The nation of Israel:

Hos 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

4. Jesus Christ:

Mar 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

5. Believers in Jesus Christ:

Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Angels, Adam and the nation of Israel all failed and fell into sin, but JESUS DID NOT FAIL. Because of Jesus, Christians are now the sons of God.

Abraham and Melchizedek

Here is a key point: God chose the patriarch Abraham to birth a nation, Israel, and through this nation a priesthood would be raised: the Levitical priesthood. Through this nation and this priesthood, the Messiah would be birthed, Jesus Christ.

God called Abraham from the land of Ur, and he went into Canaan, the Promised Land. In Canaan was a city named Salem, which would later be known as Jerusalem. In Salem, Abraham met a king and priest with a title of Melchizedek, which means King of Righteousness. Interestingly, this man brought bread and wine, and he was a priest of God:

Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

So, Abraham had the bread and wine communion with Melchizedek, just as Jesus instituted at the Passover supper with his disciples and Paul instructed us later in Corinthians. This is incontrovertible parallel between the actions of Melchizedek and the action of Jesus Christ:

Mat 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Mat 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

1Co 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.

The important point to understand about Melchizedek is that he was BOTH a priest and a king. There were many priests of other nations already that had priesthoods, yet Melchizedek was both priest and king to the most high God. Also, the Levitical priesthood established later with Aaron were only priests, not kings. This is why Jesus was to become a priest after the order of MELCHIZEDEK, not after the order of AARON - because Melchizedek was both priest and king:

Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchizedek there ariseth another priest,

Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Heb 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

The quotation from verse 17 above is an important quotation from the book of Psalms, chapter 110, not just ramblings of the writer of Hebrews:

Psa 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
