Istanbul City of Mosques

We stayed in the Sultanahmet District where the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya and the Topkapi Palace is located. Sultanahmet is located on the European side of Istanbul. The unique thing about Istanbul is that it is divided by the Bosphorus Strait, making half of the city on the European continent and the other half on the Asian continent.

The Blue Mosque is still an active mosque where Muslims go to pray. Its design is Classic Ottoman. The interior of the Mosque is of course all blue, lined with Iznik tiles along the walls. It is quite lovely, with three to four rows of stained glass windows circling the whole dome.

Our potato vendor friend made us nice hot potatoes filled with olives, cabbage, all types of salads, etc. It was one yummy meal, seeing Holly and I had only dessert for dinner that night.
