Ali Wood Piano Concert
7 September 2001

A District activity initiated by Gov. Jim Hao to help clubs and Rotaractors in the district raise funds for their activities. RC Los Baņos Makiling did all the arrangements for the concert, a production indeed. According to Ms. Wood, it was the most beautiful stage decor she ever played in. DG Jim Hao and some District sponsors took care of the expenses incurred. During their stay at Los Baņos on 4-8 September, Ms. Ali Wood's 3-4 hrs. Daily piano practice was made possible, courtesy of SEARCA (a regional center for graduate studies and research in Agriculture), where PP Ruben Villareal is the Director.

September 7, 2001 Matinee 3:00pm, DL Umali Auditorium UPLB Tickets for the matinee were sold at a low price to make it affordable to the many young people in the community. Most of the concert audience consisted of around 400 elementary pupils and high school students from schools in Los Baņos and IRRI'S International School pupils. To many of them, it maybe their first time to listen to a piano concert. But, from their whistling & joyful applauses and the interesting questions asked her during the forum, they must have enjoyed her music immensely. Ms. Ali Wood's effort to bring classical music to the young ones was a resounding success!

Gala performances 6:30 pm, DL Umali Auditorium, UPLB Ali Wood played to a more mature group consisting mostly of Rotarians in nearby towns and college students from UPLB. The attendance of the Rotarians was notably dismal.

We thank Ali for consenting to do 2 concerts in one day. This was her first time.
