NAME
The
name of the club shall be the �Riverside
Cricket Club�
2. OBJECTIVE
The
objective of the club shall be to provide grounds and
equipment for the playing and encouragement of cricket
and any other games or forms of recreation, and to
provide and maintain a club-house for the use of
members.
3. CLUB COLORS
The
club colors shall be green and yellow.
4. MEMBERSHIP
(a)
The club shall consist of ordinary members and honorary
members.
(b)
In these rules where the expression �member� or �members�
is used, it shall refer to both classes of membership in all rules dealing with
discipline or imposing duties and wherever specially
stated or the context so admits.
5. COMMITTEE
Constitution and Meetings
(a)
There
shall be a committee for the management of the club,
which shall consist of the President, Vice President,
Secretary, Treasurer, Captain, and Sports
Organizer.
(b)
There shall be a meeting of the committee on such
regular days in each month as the committee may from
time to time prescribe (hereinafter called the monthly
meeting), and such other days as may be necessary.
(c)
Not less than four shall form a quorum.
(d)
At any meeting, the President, and in his absence the
Vice President or, failing them, any member of the
committee elected to the chair, shall take the chair,
and in case of an equality of votes shall have a second
or casting vote.

(e)
The agenda of every meeting shall be circulated, and no
matter of a controversial nature shall be considered,
unless it has been placed on the agenda. Provided that if at any meeting of the committee such a
matter is brought up for discussion without being on the
agenda, it may be dealt with if the President or
Chairman of the meeting considers it of primary
importance that it should be discussed at once, and a
majority of those present are of that opinion.
(f)
The members of the committee shall be ordinary members and shall be elected at each general
meeting of the club. Those elected shall hold office
until the next succeeding general meeting when
they shall retire and shall be eligible for re-election.
6. POWERS OF THE COMMITTEE
The
powers of the committee shall be:
(a)
From time to time, to make, alter or revoke such by-laws
as may appear necessary for conducting and managing the
affairs of the club, provided always that such by-laws
are not inconsistent with the rules.
(b)
To impose by way of penalties for breach of the rules or
by-laws, fines or suspension from the club for such periods as the
committee may think fit.
(c)
To appoint sub-committees for such purposes and with
such powers as may deemed necessary.
(d)
To control and regulate the finances of the club so far
as possible in accordance with estimate of revenue and
expenditure approved by the committee, and generally
manage the affairs of the club.
(e)
To prohibit any game, the playing of which would, in
their opinion be injurious to the interest of the club.
7. VACANCIES ON THE COMMITTEE
A
member of the committee shall cease to be a member
thereof if:
�
He
is absent without the leave of the committee for more
than three consecutive meetings; or
�
By
notice in writing he resigns.
A
vacancy arising under this rule may be filled by the
committee. The
Honorary Secretary shall report to the committee any
such vacancy.

GENERAL MEETINGS
(a)
There shall be an annual general meeting of the club in
the month of December
or on such other dates as
appointed by the committee, for
general business, of which at least fourteen days notice
shall be given by the Honorary Secretary. there
shall be election of the committee annually and
Notices of motions and questions must be sent in
writing to the Honorary Secretary at least ten days
before the date fixed for such meeting.
Particulars of the business to be discussed shall
be sent by circular to each member.
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETINGS
(b)
A special general meeting may be called at any time by
the committee and shall be so called on a requisition to
them signed by ten or more members stating the purpose
for which the meeting is to be held.
Not less than five days notice by circular as
above shall be given of such meeting and particulars of
the business to be discussed shall be sent to each
member. No
other business shall be discussed.
(c)
Accidental omission to give notice to, or the
non-receipt of the notice by, any member shall not
invalidate the proceedings at any general meeting.
QUORUM
(d)
At any general meeting 3/5ths shall form a quorum. If
within thirty (30) minutes from the time appointed for
the meeting a Quorum of members is not present, the
meeting, if convened on the requisition of members,
shall be dissolved; in any other case it shall stand
adjourned to the same day in the following week at the same time and place, and if at the adjourned
meeting 3/5ths are not present within thirty (30)
minutes of the time appointed the members present shall
form a Quorum.
PROCEEDINGS
(e)
At all general meetings of the club, the President, and
in his absence, the Vice President, or failing them, a
member of the committee selected by the members of the
committee present, shall take the chair.
(f)
All category of members can attend any general meeting
of the club.

(g)
Every member present who is not in arrears as
provided in
rule No. 14, shall be entitled to one vote upon every
motion and in case of an equality of votes the Chairman
shall have a second or casting vote.
A motion put to the vote of the meeting shall be
decided on a show of hands unless a poll is, by any
member, demanded by any member. If a poll be demanded it shall be taken as the Chairman of
the meeting directs.
A declaration by the Chairman of the result of a
show of hands or of a poll shall be final.
(h)
The mover of any motion shall be entitled to speak on it
before it is seconded; if after such speech the motion
is not seconded it shall be deemed rejected by the
meeting. Any
motion standing in the name of the committee need not be
seconded and members of the committee shall speak first
on such motion.
(i)
Except with the permission of the committee no motion
lost or rejected at any meeting may be brought up again
until after the expiration of six months.
(j)
No member shall be at liberty to speak more than once on
the same subject except in explanation or reply or with
the special consent of the Chairman, provided that the
mover of a motion shall have the right of final reply.
8. ACCOUNTS
(a)
The Treasurer shall keep
correct account and books showing the financial affairs of the club.
(b)The
Treasurer shall prepare
and render an account of the receipts and expenditure of
the club and lay over a statement showing the financial
position of the club at each committee and annual
general meeting. Such account for the annual general
meeting shall be audited by an auditor or auditors
appointed by the committee.
(c)An
estimate of revenue and expenditure for the coming year
shall be prepared by the Treasurer and shall be approved by the committee.
(d)All
vouchers for withdrawing of cash from the club accounts
must carry the signatures of two of the following
members: (1) The President; (2) Treasurer;
(3) and Secretary

9. DUTIES OF HONORARY SECRETARY
The
Secretary shall:
(a)Keep
a register of all ordinary and honorary members showing
their addresses, phone number, date joined and a record
of the latest payment of their subscriptions.
(b)Keep
a minute book for the recording of business transacted
at all meetings of the committee and at general meetings
of the members.
(c)Maintain
and update a copy of the club rules with any subsequent
alterations authenticated by his signature.
(d)Maintain
an inventory record of all club assets, including
cricket gear.
10. ORDINARY MEMBERS QUALIFICATIONS
Any
person residing in the United States Of America or
Canada.
ADMISSION
(a)Every
candidate for admission as a member shall complete the
club application form which is obtainable from the
Secretary or Treasurer.
The subject form must be proposed by one member
and seconded by another member of the club. The
application must be accompanied by at least half the
membership fee and submitted to the Honorary Secretary.�
(b)At
the committee or general meetings the secretary shall
submit all applications received for processing. The
applicant will be informed of the outcome by the
secretary.
(c)If
approved and upon payment of the full membership fee,
the candidate shall become a member of the club and be bound by the rules and by-laws made in
accordance herewith.

12. RESIGNATION OF MEMBERS
(a)A
member not in arrears may, at any time, by giving notice
in writing to the Secretary, resign his
membership of the club.
(b)Any
member who resigned by giving notice in writing may be
re-admitted by the committee with permission of the
executive committee members.
(c)Any
member who has resigned without a written notice, can be
re- admitted,
subject to the committee approval and re-admission fee
to be determined by the committee.
13. MEMBERSHIP FEE AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
(a)Membership
entrance fee for the club will be $25.00 and annual dues
would be $100.00. Any member experiencing financial
burden may request to the committee in writing for a
reduction or waiver. The committee decision after
hearing such request will be final.
(b)The
annual subscription fee shall become due on April 30th
of every year.
14. FAILURE TO PAY SUBSCRIPTIONS AND OTHER DUES OR
FINES
(a)Any
member who shall fail to pay his annual subscriptions or
fine or other moneys of any nature whatsoever within
fourteen days after it is due or they shall have become
due shall be notified thereof by letter and in the event
of non-payment he shall be deemed to be in arrears.
(b)The
committee, on the expiration of such period may deprive
such member of any of his privileges for such period as
they deem fit, or suspend him wholly or in part from the
club, and/or specify in the notice or otherwise a time
period within which such arrears must be paid.

(c)If
any member fails to pay his arrears within the time
specified by the committee as herein before provided, he
shall there upon cease to be a member of the club and
his name shall be removed from the membership list.
(d)In
the case of a second failure by a member under this rule
the committee may summarily expel him from the club.
(e)Any
member ceasing to be a member or expelled under this
rule may be re-admitted by the committee upon payment of
the arrears due and the subscriptions which had he
remained a member would have been payable by him from
the time he was expelled or ceased to be a member until
re-admission.
(d)All
fines are due no later than fourteen days after
imposing.
15. INFRACTIONS OF RULES
(a)Any
member of the committee may remonstrate with a member
who breaks any rule or by-law.
(b)If
any member persistently violates the club rules or
by-laws, or if the conduct of any member is, in the
opinion of the committee, acting on their own initiative
or on the representation in writing of any three members
of the club, or of the club captain, injurious to the
interest of the club, the committee may by letter,
request such member to resign from the club within a
time specified in such letter.
EXPULSION
(c)If
such member does not resign within the time specified
the committee shall convene s special general meeting
for the purpose of expelling such member.
(d)The
committee may, in any of the cases aforesaid, summon a
Special General Meeting for this purpose without first
asking the member to resign, and shall do so in the form
of a requisition by three members as aforesaid, if such
member is not asked to resign.
(e)Such
special General Meeting shall be convened in the usual
way, but notice of the meeting together with a statement
of the charge made against him shall be hand delivered
or sent by registered post to the offending member who
shall have the right of attending the meeting and
answering the charges.

(f)The
decision of the meeting shall be conclusive and shall be
ascertained by ballot.
If two-thirds of the members voting shall vote in
favor of expulsion, such member shall cease to be a
member of the club.
(g)If
such member is not present at the meeting the decision
of the meeting shall be conveyed in writing to him by
the Secretary.
(h)No
member expelled from the club or who has resigned at the
request of the committee shall be eligible for
re-election or be introduced as a guest.
(i)Any
member shall, upon ceasing to be a member of the club
forfeit all rights to any claim upon the club and its
property and funds.
16. CLUB YEAR
The
Club year shall commence on the 1st January and end of
the 31st December.
17. COMPLAINTS
All
complaints shall be made in writing to the Secretary and such complaints shall be dealt with by the
committee.
18. CLUB CAPTAIN
a).The
club captain shall be elected at the annual general
meeting of the club.
(b)The
captain shall have the power to take appropriate action
as he seems fit against any playing member before or
during the course of matches if warranted for
misconductof behavior.
If the captain feels that such behavior should be
dealt with more severely he should
forward a written complaint as set out in rule
17, within 48 hours of the occurrence.
(c)The
captain shall have the right if he wishes to exclude any
member from playing in matches during the period he has
written to the committee as set out in rule 18 (b), until a ruling is made by the committee in regards to
the complaint made.
(d)The
captain shall supervise the preparation of the wicket
and ground for matches and will have the full authority
to designate members to complete the same before and
after matches.

(e)In
addition to the captain: if required, per appointment by
the executive committee there shall be a vice-captain who shall act as captain in the absence of the captain
and serve on the committee should the captain be absent.
19. SELECTION OF PLAYERS FOR MATCHES
(a)The
selection committee shall consist of the captain, and
two other members
appointed by the executive committee of the club.
(b)The
selectors would be advised by the Secretary of
the club about any member not eligible for selection due
to disciplinary action or failing to pay outstanding
dues.
(c)The
selection committee shall meet at a fixed time and place
as decided by its members and select the team for
matches.
(d)It
is the responsibility of all members to attend practice
sessions at which time the team selected will be
announces. Any member not present when the announcement
is made should contact any member of the selection
committee concerning the team selected.
(e)It
is the expectation of all members of the selection
committee to attend matches and practice sessions on a
regular basis. If
a selector fails to attend matches and practice sessions
without a reasonable excuse the captain shall
forward a complaint as per rule
17 and such complaint shall be dealt with by the
club committee.
20. FAILURE TO PLAY MATCHES AND ATTEND PRACTICE
SESSIONS
If
a member fails without reasonable excuse to play matches
after being selected or to attend practices the captain
shall forward a complaint to the committee and the
committee in their absolute discretion may discipline
him.
21. MEMBERS ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBERS
Every
member of the club shall communicate to the Secretary his address and phone number and also notify
the Secretary of any changes of address, and
all notices posted to such address shall be considered
as having been duly given three days following the date
of posting.

22. DAMAGE TO CLUB PROPERTY
Members
shall be responsible and liable for and shall pay the
full cost of repairing or replacing any article,
periodicals, papers or other property of the club
destroyed, damaged, removed or lost by them or by any
persons introduced by them upon being notified to do so
by the Secretary.
Should such member neglect to make good such
damage or liability within fourteen days after being
notified, the committee may proceed against such member
as outlined in rule
14 or may consider the case as one of willful
infringement of the rules and may take such steps as
they may deem expedient.
23. INTERPRETATION OF RULES, ETC.
The
committee shall be the sole authority for the
interpretation of theses rules and by-laws and
regulations made thereunder, and the decision of the
committee upon any question of interpretation, or upon
any matter affecting the club and not provided for by
these rules, or by the by-laws and regulations made
thereunder, shall be final and binding on the members.
24. ALTERATION OF RULES
Alteration of rules or by-laws must be
distributed, in writing, two
(2) weeks prior to the annual or special general
meeting.
25. RULES AND BY-LAWS
(a)These
rules and all by-laws made thereunder shall be given to
each existing member and to all new members upon
acceptance to the club and any alterations there to
shall be similarly distributed.
(b)All
by-laws shall come into operation as soon as made and
shall, until revoked, be binding on all members as if
they were contained in the rules, and ignorance of them
may not be pleaded as an excuse for infraction.
(c)All
by-laws may be disallowed, revoked or otherwise dealt
with at a general meeting.

26. DUAL MEMBERSHIP:
Riverside Cricket Club does not condone dual club
membership, specifically:-
A person during any given cricket season cannot be
member of Riverside Cricket Club and simultaneously
represent and actively participate in Sunday league
matches for another club that is also a member of the
Connecticut Cricket League. Any member of Riverside
Cricket Club who intends to play for another club that
is a member of the Connecticut Cricket League should
know that by taking such action his membership will be
terminated effectively upon him taking such action. This
rule can also be extended to other matches sanctioned by
the Connecticut Cricket League that conflict with
protocols and objectives of Riverside Cricket Club.
Exceptions to the Rule:
The dual membership clause does not apply if a member
of Riverside Cricket Club elects to represent and play
for a club that is not a member of the Connecticut
Cricket League. For instance, if a current member of
Riverside Cricket Club wants to play for a club in the
Southern Connecticut Cricket League or for an out of
state league can do so without jeopardizing his
membership at RCC.
Note:The dual membership rule cannot be applied
to current members of RCC who represent the Connecticut
Cricket League in Inter-league matches and other league
sanctioned matches such as President�s XI vs Club X.
27. REINSTATEMENT OF MEMBERSHIP:
a)Returning Member:
In accordance with the rules stated below a person
who was a previous member of Riverside Cricket Club can
apply for re-instatement of membership. Secifically:-
A person who discontinued his membership with
Riverside Cricket Club due to job/employment/business
purposes, family duties, education/vocational
development or a legitimate reason other than
representing and playing cricket for any club that is a
member of the Connecticut Cricket League, can apply for
re-instatement of his full membership with RCC after
paying appropriate outstanding dues, fees
and membership subscription.
b) A prior member of Riverside Cricket Club who
elects to represent and participate in cricket matches
for another club that is also a member of the
Connecticut Cricket League will not be considered as a
returning member and will not be eligible for
reinstatement of his membership as stated in section (a)
above. If this person wants to join RCC then the
following rules will be applied:-
1. Submit an application along with a non-refundable
fee of $25.
2. Review and meeting with Executive Committee of RCC.
3. Payment of all prior outstanding dues,
$200.00
fine and subscription fee for the current cricket
season.
4. Will be placed on a
two year probation period.
5.
Not eligible to participate in elections for voting and executive positions including that of captain for two
years.
6.
New members are not eligible to participate in elections for
voting and
executive positions including that of captain for two
years. After completing two consecutive years of
membership, baring any disciplinary action, the member
will have full election benefits.
28. ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN GENERAL ELECTIONS:
In order to be eligible to
participate in elections for an executive
committee position including that of being a captain of
the club the person has to be a fully financial member
of Riverside Cricket Club for two consecutive years

BY-LAWS
1 At practice the captain, or in his absence, the vice-captain shall
settle the order in which members are to bat, bowl or
field.
2.No
indecent language by players or members shall be
tolerated.
3
The captain shall at all times act in such a way
so as to command the respect of his players and spectators alike.
4.Any
playing member found under the influence of alcohol at
league matches will be penalized by the committee.
5
Match fee should be paid to the treasurer or designated
member before the start of each match.
6 The name of player/member who does not pay match fee for 2
consecutive matches that he takes part in, shall be
submitted to the selection committee.

Any member contravening any of these BY-LAWS
shall be disciplined by the Executive-Committee.
