I believe I have told you about our young kittens, although they are not so young anymore.  Full fledged cats now.  Anyhow, I do believe I told you that a few of them showed remarkable intelligence, and now I feel I should tell you that they do indeed have it.  One of them was pestering me for most of the day yesterday, and finally, in exasperation I guess, I told it "you must be going, I don't know what you want, and I don't have the time right now to give you lovings".  The cat sat down, stared straight at me for a moment, and then, as clearly as if I heard it with my ears, a voice came to my head, saying "I was simply wanting to keep you company.  No, lovings, as you say, are required.  It fascinates me to see you so close you presenting the new life you carry to the world."

Needless to say I was shocked.  My first thought was that I was losing my sanity.  No sooner had I thought that, then the cat leapt gently into my lap, resting one paw on my swollen belly.  That same voice came into my head again.  "You are not losing your sanity, I do not know why you would think so."  He laid his head briefly next to his paw.  "Your little one is restless I see.  You have, what, an hour, to go?"  Again I said nothing, merely staring in astonishment at the creature on my lap.  "What?  You can not tell the time for sure when the little one will come?"

"How, if I am not truly losing my sanity, can I then hear you?  As well as understand you?"

"Have you not always been able to do so?"  The cat leapt to the floor.  "I have to go over there now, I will talk with you later"

So went my first conversation with, what I will call, the new breed of cat.  I came to find out that I was not the only one to have conversations with the cats.  Many others had as well.  Four of the seven kittens seem to be very much normal, but those three biggest ones, which are easily twice the size of any other house cats I"ve ever seen, show that intelligence.  Hope, Jarla and Neril seem to take it as matter of course that the animals speak to them.  They sometimes get angry at the more normal ones for ignoring them.

Well it grows late, and I feel more tired than i think I have ever been before.  I will leave you for now.
