"Most of the time we live in a limited consciousness that we call the ego. This identification with an artificial mental self is the cause of all our suffering and our life in a distorted perception of reality. Inner Transformation means to awaken from the illusion of separation and to realize the unity with all that exists. The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religion." ------ Albert Einstein
"Just looking into your own space, what is hidden in you. From where comes this life? From where comes this consciousness? As you go deeper within yourself, you will find the center, and not only of yourself. It will be the center of the whole existence. At the center we meet, on the periphery we are separate. We are separate only in our bodies, in our minds, but beyond body and mind we are just an ocean of consciousness. There is no 'I am', there is simply pure awareness with no distinctions, no divisions."
REf: Conscious Living-Conscious Dying
I think what he meant is there is really no 'I' in the personal sense. Only the great 'I AM' that is the great ocean of consciousness (God), of which we are all one.
There is a book with this title by Ron Phillips Vanquishing the Enemy
"Ron Phillips' personal journey into the realm of spiritual warfare may seem to come from the pages of a fiction best-seller..."
I haven't read it yet, but intend to. I actually thought of this title before I knew about the book. My personal journey, however, is probably quite different from his, except for the sounding fictional part.
For instance, as I looked deep within myself in meditation and by conscious OBE, I found my own angels and my own demons.
It is just as important to become aware of the demons as it is the angels/guides who help us by giving us little nudges of intuition and glimpses of inspiration and Truth. Because, to become aware of the demons (we all have them), is to be able to vanquish them.
Have you ever watched the TV series "Charmed"? It's interesting the way the girls fight demons all the time and come up with ways to vanquish them. They can sometimes just 'blow them up' by throwing things at them. Some are more powerful and have to have potions thrown at them or several different things done to them over and over before they are actually vanquished into ashes, flames, or cosmic dust.
Some are more difficult to vanquish, because they feed off of other ego states or demons. For instance, vanity may seem like a pretty harmless demon, but it feeds off of lust. And lust is a big one, believe me. It feeds off many lesser demons, and they all feed off of fear.
We can do the same thing as the "Charmed Ones," in our dreams or imagination. The trick is to be ready for them when they appear. Sometimes you can actually see them in your mind's eye during hypno-sleep (that 5 minute window between sleep and wakefulness). If you are on your toes, you can observe them as thoughts, feelings, sensations, and movements. But, DON'T GIVE THEM MUCH THOUGHT ENERGY! They feed and grow from this too. Just silently observe them. Then, when you are aware of them and ready the next time they rear their ugly heads, BLOW THEM UP!
Yes, blow them up anyway you can. Imagine throwing fire balls at them, ask for divine help, say, "Eliminate it, Mother/Father God, turn it into cosmic dust!" Of course the most powerful words that I have used, even in my dreams are: "Be thou gone/dissolved, in the name of Jesus Christ!" And, the third time is the charm, say it three times. But, use whatever works for you, just do it!
Each time you do, it will grow weaker and weaker, and your consciousness will grow bigger and stronger. I guarantee it!
Note: Avoid alcohol and drugs at all costs, if at all possible. These substances make us vulnerable to manipulation; not only by our own ego/demons, but by the powers that be in the world, (not to mention SPs) who prefer us that way!
But the ego demons use these substances to work on us. They start out subtle like anxiety and depression, then work their way through those to lust, to anger, to jealousy and on to violence and even sometimes to murder.
Repentance comes in when we become aware of our ego/demons and begin to eliminate them consciously. We then can ask for forgiveness for creating them in the first place.
Yes, we created them somewhere along the line...they are thought-forms that actually exist as separate entities on the Astral plane. Once we become aware of them, we can sometimes see their forms or faces when in hypno-sleep and in dreams...this is a good time to vanquish them!
"Put to death what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you once walked, when you lived in them. But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth." - Colossians 3.5-8
FLIP SIDE
On the flip Side, theres an old saying, "don't raise more demons than you can put down." Thats why observing and eliminating them has to be done slowly and gently.
Dont give them much thought energy. Dont name them. Dont judge them. Try to develop an attitude of non-duality.
(Remember, by naming thinking, or feeling good or bad about something is what got us kicked out of the Garden)
Just quietly and gently observe from moment to moment, and when you become aware of one, ask Mother/Father God to eliminate it and turn it into cosmic dust. Then ask your intimate Christ for forgiveness for creating it in the first place.
The following outline of an early proposed book is from my very early studies of metaphysics. I still find it helpful and someday I just may finish it.
