The series of flags above may tell you a bit about me. Some represent past experiences, some are symbols of my values, and others are part of my heritage. If I could put these flags into a few sentences they might read like this. I am a gay man who considers himself a part of the "Bear" community. My family came to America in 1629 from Wales and my home state is Wyoming. I am a Marine Vet who served two tours in Viet Nam. In 1988-1989 I taught English in P.R. China and found the people of China to be a most warm, honorable and energetic sampling of humanity. (Nothing I heard or experinced in China improved my detest for the political form of government called Communism.) In 1992 I moved to Georgia where I now reside with a most wonderful soul-mate and we reside together in a life of harmony that I never knew during the twenty years that I was married and raising a family. The last flag represents my spiritual values in that I am a Christian; not by my own declaration or any personal efforts from me, but because I was sought after and redeemed at a great price by Christ. I think I should add here that I see a parallel between this and my being gay........I did not choose to be gay (I fought it for over 40 years), I did not alter my mannerisms or interests once I recognized myself as a gay man, and I like what I have become as a result of recognizing these spiritual and orientational facts in my life. |
