I didn't discover this little enclave of autumnal beauty in Yamagata Prefecture until I was introduced to it by Josh in October 2000. Thanks, Josh. It's certainly a great place to visit in autumn for the colourful display of autumn foliage. If you are in Sendai, it is very easy to get to Omoshiroyama. Just catch the train from Sendai to Omoshiroyama Station just over the border in Yamagata Prefecture, and the trailhead literally starts from the train station exit. Talk about convenience!
